Current 440 I am building is using Comp rockers which take a ball end p'rod. So 5/16" ball top & bottom, 3/8"tube.
Much easier here to get hollow p'rods [ such as for a 454 Chev ], available in 0.050" increments.

I cannot see any problem with this.
Thoughts?

For pushrods, it is less flex and thicker is better and worth the weight of the heavier pushrod.

Bewy, as long as it is the right length, which of course you know is critical, then go for it.

All pushrods are hollow since they are made from tubing. You can order different wall thickness but passenger car engines are usually fairly thin wall tubing. Chevy pushrods work just fine as long as they are the correct length and have the correct ball diameter on each end.

Hey Andy , ur forgetting about stock 440 pushrods , solid and make excellant long punches if sharpened .

I also recently refreshed engine bearings and such. New comp cam, Hydr. roller lifters #8921, magnum rockers. the new p-rods #7174's also "hollow" 3/8 x 5/16 cup/ball. I have HV oil pump, 7qt. pan additional oil for hv-pump. Oil pressure at start up is stead at 60lbs. until temp is at 180 for a bit and the pressure IDLE drops close to zero, i have to keep the rev's up. Could the hollow p-rods be the cause?

Hollow pushrods on a LA block without the oil feed to the heads being blocked off? What oil and grade?

Hummmmmm
