.030" longer push rods and where to find them.

Well new pushrods in and it's much quieter! Still hear a little but damn what a relief.

Well took it for 150 mile drive gets noisy after it gets up to operating temp so going to try 20w- 50 instead of 10w-30 vr-1.

Cold 50 at idle and 15 warm, it was 55 with 20w-50 and about 20-25 warm that's why it dawned on me duh brain fart.

hmm....

I think these were from Mancini and too narrow. Didn't know 3yrs ago always worked on small blocks lesson learned ordered new spacers and hold down kit from 440 source.

Spent a week filing down the rocker arm washers to get the clearance I needed.

Find the spec that your setup calls for. I won't recommend a spec. Just to play it safe.

I used aluminum blocks for hold downs maybe that had too much side to side clearance going back to stock style hope it work's for this year.

I think ill spend the cash next year and get those or harland sharp and be done with it! Lol

I’ve never seen one of those spacers even mildly worn from a factory set up.

Also, there is usually a fair amount of side to side clearance when using 100% stock parts on stock heads.

I did a quick look-see back at the 1st page only. I could be mistaken but does it not appear that he is using aftermarket hold downs with stock rocker arms? Maybe has things wedged a might tight?

Yeah I think he's been asked about that. I mean, sure, aluminum heads and stock rockers....you can do it......but why?

I guess I wasn’t clear about my point.....which was.......
When everything is stock, those spacers don’t seem to have any wear issues.
I looked at a few I had here, and they just look like they’re polished on the side, but no evidence of wear.
But then...... why would they?
There is plenty of clearance between the rockers and the spacers when all OE parts are used.

The hold downs in the pic look like the ones Indy supplied with their rockers, and then later on Comp switched to them as well.

The early days of the Comp BB Pro-Magnum rockers came supplied with OE type hold downs, which weren’t a good match for those rockers at all.
The fairly coarse texture of the rocker bodies and the way the side of the tab on the hold down interacted with each other, the rocker would end up filing a groove on the bottom corner of the tab on the hold down.

It would be interesting to know if there is a difference in the side clearance, per pair of rockers, with the aftermarket vs stock hold downs.

FWIW, through the years, I’ve had several customers run Ede heads with all the stock rocker gear.
No issues reported.
