The only time I ever had an issue with just water in something and below freezing temps was when it was a long hard freeze. Pressure washer pump ended up cracking. Closed garage and various dirt bikes with just water wetter (which offers no freeze protection) I never had issues either. Pop the radiator cap off at the most but I see no worry
