I am working on sourcing the final parts needed to reassemble my 63 dart after I get it painted and have a question.

When I got it the rear glass was smashed and the rear roof had been damaged. I have since gone through the process to repair the rear roof and reinstall rear brace and am pleased with the result.

I have also found a replacement glass for it. Had to pay up for it but as it's one year only I never had much choice (shipping was the killer).

Problem I have run into is that I don't have the rubber seal. After doing some research I can only find them through Steele rubber. Currently they are out of stock. I contacted them and while they say they will be making more, they don't have a timeline. Could be a few months, maybe more.

Does anyone know if anyone else makes this seal? I know steele has a reputation for top quality parts, but if it's going to keep me from getting the car finished this year I would install a different brand if available. I was hoping maybe one of the vendors might have one in stock but so far the couple I found that offered them had no stock (probably order direct from steel when order placed)

Thanks

Nope. Nobody. If you see one somewhere else, it's Steele Rubber. They are the only company that makes them. You need to be very careful here, too. There are unscrululous companies who will say they have them, take your money and either send you nothing, or the wrong part and keep your money. I have a 63 I am working on for a friend right now and it also needs a rear glass and seal. I have not founda glass yet, but Steele Rubber is it for the seal.

Thanks, that's what I was afraid of. I am only sticking to bigger companies that I have seen good reviews on. Have been burnt that way before. Oh well, guess I'll just have to wait and hope they do a run sooner than later. if I spot a rear glass, I'll give you a heads up

I just personally went out to the warehouse to check for myself....and we do have that rear windshield rubber seal in stock and ready to ship.

Part# DU-WGS3210, 1963 Dart rear window weatherstrip, $410.00

Shipping to Canada would be via USPS Postal Service.

I assume that includes the back glass?

Just the facts....I thought I'd let the OP know that one was available right now so that he wouldn't have to wait for the next production run.....and that we can ship via the post office so he wouldn't get slammed with "brokerage fees" on top of the GST/HST...

No good deed goes un-punished....

Found mine at Mopar Muscle in mich. I got frt and rear from them. They fit great and i dont have leaks anymore. I got all the rubber trim pcs through them, i believe they make their own products

Do you have a link or contact info for them? Just googled Mopar muscle but never found them.

Do you mean Detroit muscle technologies? If so I have been looking at their website and they don't list one for the dart.

Thanks for letting me know. I think I will have to wait and see when they do another run. I know they aren't cheap but that's a little high. Steele sells it for $279 with the lock strip and $239 without. Other vendors around the same. I understand mark up but that's more than I'm comfortable with.

If I get absolutely stuck I will get back to you. Thanks for checking and letting me know you have stock on the shelf.

No they are not, unless it is 63 Canadian valiant. The Canadian valiant used the dart rear body. The American valiant is totally different roofline so I would think the seal is different as well

So, on a whim, I decided to call Steele rubber and see if I could get an idea on when they would be running another batch of the window rubber I need.

The lady I spoke to was really nice. She confirmed that as far as she could tell the river was not discontinued, but could not determine when they would be running another run. She decided "hey, let's see if it will let me put in an order" stating she would have to add the note that I understood it was temporarily unavailable and that I wanted one when they did get made, and that my card would not be charged until they did.

I figured what the heck, let's try it, thinking maybe if they saw an actual request for one or might get bumped up and made sooner. (She also confirmed it could be weeks to months before they run it being as it showed temporarily unavailable) That was Wednesday afternoon. That night I noticed my card had a pending charge on it. I figured maybe they charged my card by mistake or maybe I was going to have problems due to how she tried to place the order. Got up today (from working nights) and noticed I got a shipping notification from Steele. So either they found one on the shelf somewhere, or they decided to run one (or a batch).

So moral of this is Steele rubber customer service is awesome in my opinion. Also if you want one of these give them a call and see what they say. So happy I did. Still expensive for a window rubber, but a fraction of what others want. Can't wait for it to show up.
