If you could order any A-Body new? What if question.

Either:
'68 Dart GTS 383, 4-speed, Turquoise, with white interior, white tail stripe.

'71 Duster 340 4-speed, Sassy Grass green

'70 Dart Swinger 340 4-speed, Plum Crazy with white interior and white vinyl top.

For me, it would be:

1970 Plymouth Duster

Airtemp Standard Model A/C

Am/Fm Radio With Tape Player

Ivy Green Metallic Ext. Color

1971 Cloth and Vinyl Split-Bench Seat. (L1F7 Green w/ black/green houndstooth inserts.)

V5F green protective side molding

Manual Steering

Manual Brakes

340

4 speed

3.91 Sure Grip

Raised white letter tires

Aerodynamic rear spoiler

Tach

Heavy Duty Suspension

All windows tinted

Belt Moulding.

Also, I would get the chrysler bowling bag and luggage.

1973 Dodge Dart 340 Sport, console auto and a/c, PB, PS, tinted glass. Red with a white canopy vinyl roof and white wrapover decal. White bucket seat interior. Convert-Triple package (sunroof and folding rear seat). Lotsa options. The (now defunct) Dodge dealership by my house had them back then. Used to ride my Schwinn bike over there in 1973 to drool over it.

I think I would order a '69 ball stud hemi notchback Cuda. I believe only 2 were ever made.

That car you are thinking of just has the Ball Stud put in it.

Ball Stud was like 71 or something ... way after a 69 cuda

Ther blue 69 cuda was Tom Hoover’s car that have a bunch of cool motors in it. But never ball stud.

The current owner just happened to own that car and that motor and put them together.

What about the Sox & Martin car?

Easy one for me..... 72 TX9 H code. Same as the one I had in 86-87..... It's all I need....

JW

Id Take my car as it was 70 swinger 340 4 speed , C7 Plum Crazy, black bench seat interior, black stripe, black vinyl top. Rally wheels. has a go wing not sure if it is factory but Id still have it on the deck lid...

its mostly known for being owned by Tom Hoover. As sort of his personal test bed. If you look at that info board the article says Tom Hoover on it.

It might have been with Sox and Martin first. I need to read that original Mopar Action article.

that motor originally had black crinkle valve covers and didn’t have that Hemi badge.

that owner/restorer did not do history justice.

That car was originally an M code 440 cuda owned and ordered new by a mechanic out of North Carolina. He took it to S&M for a "cheater motor" to be built.

1971 Dodge Demon Mr. Norms GSS - exactly what I have now but in Y9 Tawny Gold

1968 Formula S Fastback 340 4 speed
Mist turquoise
3 spoke woodgrain steering wheel
exposed lug nut sport wheel covers
AM/FM radio
Red Plastic wheelhouse liners
Vacuum Performance gage
Front disc brakes
Rallye Cluster Group
white interior
A/C

If you could go back in time and order any A-Body new, what would it be?

(Normal production cars only please…… This thread won't be fun if it's full of 68 Hemi Darts and Barracudas.)

For me it would be.

1968 Dart GTS, 340, 4-Speed in White with red interior and red tail stripe.

I would want it fully loaded…. Power steering, power disc brakes, wood steering wheel, head rests, AC, inter light package and all the little comfortable do-dads……

So, we're not allowed to order a 68 Super Stock Barracuda ?

I think I'd get a 68 Super Stock Barracuda.

69 Barracuda, Formula S, 340, 4 speed, PS, PB, AC, PW, 3.23 Posi (just kidding, I mean Sure Grip), F8 Green, white 340 callout stripe, Deluxe interior in that saddle tan, bucket seats, AM FM radio, Console, Fold down back seat, disk brakes, recall wheels, red stripe Wide Ovals, 3 speed wipers with electric washer pump, factory tach (standard with the Formula S I think), and undercoating.
OK, LOL time. Evidently you could order a 69 Cuda with a Hemi? That must be true because I have lost track of how many people have come up to me at a car show and said something like, "My uncle had one just like this, but he ordered his with a hemi." LOL

PW ? .... power window?

From factory, 70-72 Duster 340 never got dual scoops or any scoops.

But they’re common and easy to add them. And look very natural. So much so people think they were available originally.

I understand we’re dreaming a bit here and there are some “what-if” combinations thrown out here.

…thanks for clearing that up for me. I see 70-72 Dusters with hood scoops and never recall seeing “one” 70-2 Duster with hood scoops back in the day. So if I understood correctly, they were never available on 70-2 Dusters.
Then I recently saw a 72 Duster with a hood snorkel. Seller had it listed as a factory original option.
I saw One ‘71 or ‘72 Demon back in the day with a hood snorkel. Anyone know the true story about the snorkel application.
I’m not positive, but do believe the hood scoops were available on both ‘71 & ‘72 Demons. Anyone know the facts?

Loaded question, of course the Hemi Cuda first. 2# 68 340 4 speed Cuda, 3#? 71 4 speed 340 Duster and finally 4# 74 Dart Sport 360 4 speed. All short wheelbase, 108” cars
