Orderded Dougs headers for my 70 Dart. The installation notes say that the starter must be put in at the same time as the headers . Will a mini starter solve this problem?
If so do you have a suggestion as to which one?

Ram/Dakota starter went in my car no problem, but I had to modify my z bar

remove the starter for the header install regardless. I have Dougs and a mini starter (Dakota starter) on my Duster. Fitment was great.

Yes, Mini Starter cures having to wrestle the starter and header in place together at once. I ordered one from NAPA for a '91 Ram, but they're all the same as far as I can tell.

I'm also running a V8 Dakota (91/92) starter

Tons of room to install after the headers are on

A body Thorleys on the A-100 too. Definitely dakota starter. But I have put them on after the starter as well as changing starter without taking the headers off

Stock starter is a beastly monster

Feels like it weighs 65 pounds

They are! Those monster starters weigh a ton, but have spun over a LOT of Mopars over the decades. I was reluctant to go to the mini myself, but glad the headers I ordered from TTI mandate it. Save a few pounds, and takes less power to spin it over. Win, win!

I went to the Pick-n-Pull and got a factory starter laying on the ground underneath a ram truck. It was $22 and I took it home and sprayed it with WD-40 and wiped it off with paper towels three times in a row so it was perfectly clean... My opinion that the factory starter is way Superior to a parts store starter.. as a matter of fact my parts store starter lasted about 6 months and gave me nothing but trouble. Now that I've had this Factory starter on my 410 stroker I've never had an issue.. never had an issue with either one of my wife's durangos or my ram truck as far as that goes.,. Factory starters...

I love them.
I have them on both my Cudas.
Passenger side... easy
Driver side... not so much.
Removed clutch linkage, jacked up engine, install from the bottom, hang header with a bungee cord, install starter.
Full size starter, I bought 2 minis since then for when they crap out.

Doug's for the win. I also have a 80 Dart, V8 Kframe, manual steering, PST 1.03 bars and a mini starter. The starter can be put in and out with headers installed.

However, I installed mine in the engine and the engine was installed from underneath. Lol. I don't have any installed pics of the headers tho.
