Exhaust Band Clamps

I have the same style band clamps on the exhaust on my 83 D150. They hold just fine. However as you may expect, over time the two sections of exhaust pipe inside the clamp become one and are near impossible to separate. I ran into this issue when I did a recent engine pull on the D150. I ended up cutting the exhaust pipes. On my next exhaust install I plan to use V Band clamps. The V band clamps require welding when installing but allow the pipes to be separated.
The V Band clamp shown in post 6 is what I plan to use.
If RRR does not have room for a standard exhaust clamp, he won’t have room for a V Band clamp, but if it was a new install I would use the V Band clamps.
