I've seen this a few times lately.
Some inexperienced new member posts something for sale and soon thereafter, some armchair quarterback chimes in about how the OP is trying to scam the forum or something to that effect.
Guess what? SOME people were not born with a brain full of Mopar knowledge. Some acquire it over years. Stop bashing on the guys that make a few simple mistakes in their ad postings.

I agree....and I can be snappy at times. Maybe we should just start callin each other out when it happens.

Ok. I'll post this.

Yeah exactly, they already know they're pieces of worm **** until they prove themselves here JK

As long as they develop good forum etiquette.. they're alright by me.

I know that I have a history of being a smart *** and I have been rude to others.
I do not dispute that. I don't mean to be a hypocrite here, I really hate when others are so I try to avoid that.
I have a soft spot for those that are new to the hobby or just not as experienced as others. I hate seeing people pile on a guy on the internet. I've seen it happen and been on the receiving end....A few popular members start bashing a person and others join in.
This is for you meanies.....

I'm POSI-tive this will go over well.

I heard you got a vacation on B bodies @Kern Dog

People need to chill a bit sometimes

i try to be kind, but shoot, sometimes what they post is so silly

like a week ago, there was a newbie selling "hemi upgrade parts"

so i go in there (dont ask why, i dont have a hemi, so the upgrade parts wont fit my little 408) come to find he's selling an aspen with a hemi in it, figuring the hemi was the upgrade to whatever engine we are running right now

a little back and forth, and the title got changed and hopefully he'll stick around

Hey, almost forgot, I still get to be rude to all the old farts on here, right?

Most forget their own first experience of “not knowing what to do”. We have become so knowledgeable now with our access to info being fingertip magic that we think everyone should know that. Well, just think back to when the info only came from a magazine or further back to just a person with experience.

I fully agree with this. I have learned a ton about Mopar over the last ten years. All thanks to the the For Only forums. I knew nothing before that and still have a lot to pick up on.

Two times in my life, I've joined some off brand forum to learn about some car problem for a buddy that wasn't internet savvy. One was for a 1980 Jeep CJ-5, the other time was for a BMW Mini Cooper. It felt a bit weird to be the clueless newbie asking a question.

There are times when I still ask questions on here too, and I've been here almost half my life already (that's a weird thing to say). If you guys were jerks when I first joined back in 2007, I probably wouldn't still be on here. We all have our moments, even if the question asked is obvious to us (common stuff asked all the time), people that ask those questions don't know that.

My theory is (and I am serious) be nice until it's time to not be nice. I always try to be nice. When a new person asks a question without giving any data, or with a vague thread title, I sometimes chime in, welcome him to the thread, and explain the best way to get results to a question. That being said, jerks that ask a question and then argue with people who are trying to help, OR people who ask a vague question and then more or less refuse to provide data after being asked by several FABO members to provide it, OR people who say RUDE things about people they disagree with fall under a different umbrella. At times open season on them is OK.

Exactly^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Well put.

More times than once I have seen members especially new ones sort of ask a question than argue with the responses because what they really want is for others to agree with them. You know the type, " Been everywhere but the electric chair and seen everything but the wind"

Tech questions are another matter but I agree with the above posts. Some ARE bull headed and simply looking for confirmation of their own failed diagnosis.
Years back when I had multiple threads going about the problems that I was having with detonation, I was running almost 11 to 1 and refused to pull the engine to swap in dished pistons. Instead, I went with thicker head gaskets....a move that some strongly advises against. It actually worked but I think that a piston swap would have had the same effect while making more power due to improved quench.
Regardless.....
Lets try to be a bit more open minded about the new guys and gals that are just learning this stuff.

What irks me is the lack of participation of (some) new members when informed people take time to respond to their inquiries.

Remember the kid who started 3 different threads on what electric fan to use, and refused to get us basic measurements on his engine?

That kid frustrated me

I stated out knowing nothing in 1970 when I started and am still learning.
I never lose sight about the fact that I have learned about cars in general since then, not only A-Bodies and B-Bodies, but a lot of other cars and makes.
However, I know what I know from hard knocks and learning over the years and having an open mind.
These days, I spend more time on here learning than posting.
A lot of (us) can be a wealth of information, but, never lose sight of where you came from.
Now, newbie dick heads that won't listen to experience, are destined to be outcasts and wallow in their own ****!
So be it.
Help them if they want to accept it, but attitude is everything..........
