A 68 Cuda big-block fastback for $8500 - this is the best buy yet

-
Somebody PLEASE go look at the car in the OP and tell us if it's a H code, and if it's got any hidden issues.

I'd buy it.
$8500... Offer him $8000. Sell the seats, the wrong manifolds and everything in the last photo for a thousand or two. Now you're down to $6000. Looks like a New York, maybe a PA plate. Fender tag ?... Who needs it ?

You do realize the fenders and hood on it are fiberglass. I'd sell that **** along with the wrong seats and wrong manifolds and keep the steel hood and steel fender, and hunt for another steel fender for the other side.

And, if not original and a driver, trim the steering column outer sleeve closer to the firewall and slide the bushing back in. Now use a B body HP manifold on it. We did this on Dads 69 barracuda with 383. Save the money for other parts needed.

There's more than one way to skin a cat and............................... more than one way to filet a Cuda!!

Like I said, some of see the glass half full, others see it half emply... some of us see it darn near full of Dr. Pepper which IMO tastes like POOP!!! ha

Yes, I did see the lift off hood with hood pins.
I didn't see where they said glass fenders.

Not a deal breaker for me.

$8,000.....Big Block Barracuda or 2 sheets of OSB plywood. Hmmm. What to get. Just can't decide.

Hey man Ga Pacific has a huge plywood and glue mill 45 mi North, they have been running 24/7 for decades!!!!! \

I have a bad feeling inflation will eat us alive on everything for some years to come, as in forever!!

Not a deal breaker for me either, but look closer at the black colored fenders. May be steel , maybe not.

The way I see this car is that in my opinion it is actually a good deal. The package is mostly complete, perhaps not correct, but I don’t care about correct.
Ask yourself how much you would take for your project in a similar state. I doubt anybody here would say less than 8G, regardless of body style. And this is, IMO, the most desirable of the 3 years.

Ok
I gotta believe that they are fiberglass, I don't see parking lights.
The hood... My 68 has a glass lift off hood. Love it.
I don't have a fender tag for mine either.
If I didn't have 2 now, I'd go get it. As long as it is New York or PA.

i'm working on a couple of "flip" houses i have right now and we are finishing off the attic of one of them. i went to Home Depot for 7/16th OSB and they wanted $46.00/sheet. so i went over to the plywood section and picked up 5/16th plywood for $42.00/sheet. i have never seen plywood cheaper than OSB - until now!!

Wait a minute the only person that was hating was him... He started calling people stupid, he started telling people to go to other forms and to buy other brand cars... He started saying how he had a Harvard lawyer education which has nothing to do with 6869 barracudas by the way... Because someone has a different opinion on what a car is worth then he does doesn't make them stupid...
If he didn't start name calling then there would be no hating....
How many names have you called people? You seem to invite the head butting like an old ram. Let's share knowledge, not attitude.

I'm more of an engine guy myself...
A little something I tossed together for some fun...

Even if the OP car is a 318 car, when is the last time you saw a 68 fastback with a solid body for sale, and how much was it?

You're really close just a couple of few simple touches and I think you would be right on my heels...
While mine has a 100% custom look yours has a really nice stock look...
Now my suggestions and they're only suggestions are not going to be those that make it look like it came out of the factory. Just wanted to give a touch of a cleaner look to what you already have. First I would high heat paint the top of the radiator black. Second I would take some armor all on a rag and wipe the radiator and heater hoses to give them a shiny clean look. Also I would take the alternator off take it apart as much as I could and tape it off as much as I could and high heat paint it as well. Probably black or silver. Also the next time I needed a battery I would get a black one. And one last thing I would take all the wiring back off with labels on the end of it and put it in a black wiring loom like this. Not the plastic corrugated...

I've been using that kind of loom lately on customers cars with a soft looking material like black electric tape on the ends and it comes out looking really nice... Just some inexpensive stuff to finish tidying up... IMHO...

Quote me where I was name calling...
I pushed the unwatch button on this thread twice now because I don't want to butt heads. But here you are quoting me dragging me back in... Why don't you try telling your children what to do not grown men...

I agree with the improvements! I kicked myself from day one for not cleaning and painting that radiator I guess I was so excited to get it up that I just checked out! But I agree it's the most noticeable thing that sticks out. I can't believe how fast it got dirty and not so shiny looking. There is part of the block wear the paint looks thin alt re any and the pretty silver manifolds have turned to a burnt rust color already! And it's just dirty looking overall. Im gonna clean it best i can and repaint some spots on the block. And paint that radiator! Hopefully by next year I'll have a new be cool or griffin in there instead of that factree one!
