The Future Is Here, Introducing The eDart

I got into hot rods, dirt bikes and fast snowmobiles to have fun, annoy my neighbours and attract hot women... so far it’s all worked out... if I can piss off some purists along the way that’s just a bonus.. so bring on the LS swaps, diesel conversions and electric cars... who the hell needs to see another stock Mopar in this lifetime

diesel is great...if you're running a agricultural piece of equipment

speaking of which, dont you hate it when you're out in the woods and you hear a tractor coming, so you get out of the way, and it turns out to be one of those pigs YR mentioned

I’ve been hearing this bull **** about “renewable” energy since at least 1981 and I haven’t see it yet.

I love that it’s called “technology”. That’s the catch all phrase when the media is trying to shove something up the *** of the public they don’t really want. Take the 4 stroke dirt bike. A big, heavy, expensive slow revving pig that is so inefficient that they have to double the displacement to make it competitive.

And what did the media say?? Its the “new” technology”. And some of the public bought that crap. When KTM released the finger follower valve train the media kept saying it was “F1 technology” but I’d bet the vast majority of the dirt bike media has seen anything F1 except in pictures. Yet they leg humped it to the moon.

BTW, gasoline does not come from “fossils”. It never has. It is made in the earth. That’s why old wells can be uncapped and they will produce 60-70% of what they produced at peak. It’s because they fill back up.

Let them sit a couple hundred years and they will produce 100% of what they did when first drilled. So crude oil is a renewable natural resource.

The mining and such to produce batteries worth a crap is far more detrimental to the environment than any part of the crude oil logistical layout.

What about things like freight hauling??? Battery powered Semi trucks? That’s a riot. What about trains?? I know they use some form of electric motor but they have to burn diesel to do it.

Both of the above examples have to motivate in varied environments, climates, elevation and over diverse geographical areas. How I the hell is a battery going to do that. How far do you think an 80,000 pound truck and trailer will go through the snow, up hill? How fast can it do it? How long will it do it? I guess to the tree huggers is all that matter is electric everything and ignore the logistical and control issues that they involve. Those trucks are way too slow as it is now. You’d have to add 40,000 pounds of batteries to make it go. How long to charge? How often does it need to be charged? What about 8 and 9 axle truck and trailer stuff that can gross 105,500 pounds? What battery requirements for that? Do we increase the total GVW to make it happen, or reduce the GVW by the weight of the batteries???? If you do the former, the roads won’t take the extra load. Damn. That makes everything more expensive when you have to rebuild all the roads. But the DC dullards never think that far out. And what if we keep the GVW the same, but reduce the load carrying ability by the weight of the batteries??? Oh goodie? We still have to move the same amount of freight. So then what??? Way more trucks on the road and all that ****.

There are no good solutions to any of these questions. At least I’ve never heard any real answers to them.

What about ocean going vessels? Think they will work on electric motors? No way.

So all you unicorn riding, pixie dust sniffing, Santa Claus believing fools better wake up and see this is nothing more than a way to control the population. Just like mass transit, the most worthless, inefficient method of moving people there is. But the granola eating, sandal wearing communists love that ****. The funny thing is the vast majority of them have never used mass transit.

It’s not fear or ignorance that makes me not like electric powered vehicles. It history. You see, the gasoline powered internal combustion engine already beat out steam and electric locomotion a century ago. Sure did. And why was that?

Go back and dig for the history in it. The electric crowd said the same **** then they are saying today. And everyone else said exactly what I say. How will you power them? How will you recharge them? To build the infrastructure to do that was criminally abusive to the environment that the freaks said they wanted to say.

The “green” movement isn’t new. It’s communism wrapped in lies and deceit. It’s about control. All you fools just lived through the biggest population control effort since the planned Arab oil embargo and the “oil crisis” that went with it. And it appears the vast majority didn’t learn a damned thing from it. Go back and study that. And while you are digging through the history books, have a look at the lie of peak oil.

What a crock of bullshit. I get tired of hearing that some of you aren’t afraid of “new technology”. It’s what idiots say when they have no idea what is happening. They have zero knowledge of history of the not so long past, and they can’t learn from the history they live through. But they love to Pat each other on the back and tell everyone how proud they are in their own ignorance.

The end game is control of the population. Simple as that. Wake up.

WELL SAID !
WELL SAID !!

100% bullshit.

Daimler is putting electric semi’s on the road THIS YEAR. 730 hp, 250 mile range, 80% recharge in 90 minutes. Will that replace all the diesel semi’s? Of course not. They’ll be on local daily routes with a regular schedule only.

Daimler ships out first electric Freightliner semi truck.

But that’s just right now. That’s the thing about technology. The batteries coming out right now are far more capable than the ones from just a few years ago. And there are battery technologies being tested now that will make lithium batteries look just as outdated as lithium made the last generation of batteries. But to know that you’d have to be reading tech papers and paying attention to some of the research currently being done.

What this thread really needs is more guys that barely graduated high school to comment on technology they clearly don’t understand. Throw around conspiracy theorist nonsense like it’s fact instead of farcical BS.

Sure, call me names, I’m some elitist that doesn’t want to explain things. I’ve tried. Post some actual science, post facts that show half the stuff being thrown around in this thread is just bad information, doesn’t matter. The problem is most people here would rather remain completely ignorant. It’s not even that they can’t understand, they just don’t want to. Although there are definitely some that can’t. But it’s easier to *****, whine and fear-monger about **** you don’t understand and don’t want to than actually try and figure out what you’re talking about.

FWIW, the Lithium batteries used in automobiles is of the LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) chemistry that does not use Cobalt.

Right but it’s easier to post memes about scary looking crap than actually figure out if they’re relevant at all. Which of course they aren’t.

So apparently you find it necessary to degrade others here who you assume barely graduated high school rather than just post facts. Always the self indulgent geniuses attacking people. Just when many of us thought that was exclusive to the N & P section. Grow up.

I think it's fair to say it's turned a little personal on all sides. Who would've thought that good old fashioned hotrod ingenuity would be such a lightning rod. At this point might as well move this thread to the N&P section and let them have at it. Probably any post after this that has to do with an electric conversion is doomed as well.

I didn’t call YOU names, but if you think they fit that’s on you.

Ever drive a semi truck at 80k? Or a truck and trailer at 105K? I have. For many miles. If you think that electric batteries will power that junk **** out here where there are actual mountains, constant rain, snow and then blinding heat, all while pulling mountains you are nuts.

And, if IF they can do it, do you not understand how filth it is to build that junk? And how in the hell will it get its charge? Coal fired plants? Nope. Uncle Joe Chiden hates coal. What about Natural gas?? Naw, it’s a form of “fossil fuel” so it’s taboo too because, you know...the planet and the q2 year old girl who is being mentally abused by her family and the media...Greta whatever. So that’s no good. Hydroelectric power??? HELL NO!!! We can’t have a dam. We can’t have all the salmon not making it back up the river because, you know...the dam. Oh wait, the dam is about 1% of total fish loss. And not just salmon. Other fish get caught up in the inland gill nets. No one talks about THAT because, you know...the natives are the biggest inland gill netters around. Just use wind mills. Uhhhhh, no because to make them remotely effective you need massive storage batteries to deal with high use levels when there is no wind. So that’s not going to do it. We have the sun. Solar will do it. Well no, it can’t for the same reasons wind can’t do it. In order to supply demand when there is no sun you need to have huge storage capabilities. So that’s a bust. We have nuclear power. Oh wait, the tree hugging idiots have crucified that power source and since they have God’s blessings in knowledge and righteousness they can’t be wrong.

So where will ALL this power come from? And where will we store the generated energy for times when demand outpaces supply?? And where will all the power transmission lines and other related infrastructure go and at what cost?

I guess we could use local diesel generators, but we can’t do that either because it’s not “clean” either.

So for all the hype it’s ALL BULLSHIT. Once again, it’s about control. If you can’t see that, you need to step away from your computer and do some study.

Mocking the technology or disagreeing with it is one thing. There's way too much weak minded insulting going on everyday everywhere.

well said; the entire post.
The word technology, and the aura behind it is the new-age, man-made, lower-case g, god of this world. It has been wrapped in gold-foil, and infused with magic and sorcery, to be the destruction of all mankind. The lemmings will all run over the edge and be destroyed, of their own free-will choice.
But hey, don't take my word for it, lol; just hang around for a bit, and watch the World transform, right before your foggy lying eyes.

That’s the problem. It IS personal. This is about giving up a freedom for a communist pig in a communist poke. I’ve already rebutted why electric powered vehicles are useless, and more importantly why they are NOT environmentally anywhere near as clean as gasoline and diesel powered mass surface transportation. It’s THAT simple. Again, it’s about controlling your every move and your ability to do it.

Here is another example that comes from the not so distant past.

Ever heard of Vanport Oregon? Look it up. It is one shining example of communist ingenuity and control. There are literally hundreds of other examples I could show, but this is one I’ve done the most study on.

Vanport Oregon was once stood where Delta Park now is, and Delta Park is now the home of Portland International Raceway, among other things (that would be West Delta Park BTW, East Delta Park is ball fields and things) and was built in WWII to house workers at the ship yards to the south of Vanport. They used trolly and rail lines to move the workers to and from Vanport.

Vanport was literally a self contained city. And it was built by (and for) the man who ran the biggest ship building enterprise in the area. And I can’t think of his name. You can Google it and see who he was. Anyway, he built the “city” so his workers could use mass transportation to get to work and everything else was in walking distance. And he OWNED that city. All of it. And his employees had to pay rent. To him. And anything they bought at Vanport went to HIM. The theatre was his. The small store. All of it. That my friend is communism in a nutshell.

Now, before someone goes of half cocked and says “that was for the war effort”, let me remind them that this same system was used long before the war in many regions. The coal mines were one place. And virtually all the wages the worker earned were spent at the company store, paying rent on a company shack to live in and everything else. Again, that is communism. And the pay wasn’t enough to allow upward mobility. So one may ask “what does this have to do with NOW??” And the simple answer is EVERYTHING.

You see, the same bolshevik marxists who built places like Vanport are at it again. All across the country little cities within a city are being built. Of course, in true communist fashion they build apartments rather than HOMES. And everything is som crammed together that walking, or riding a bicycle is much less hassle than driving a car. Of course, you CAN have a car in places like that, but the limit is usually ONE CAR. And you have to have a place to park it.

Of course, the “entity” that builds those places OWN them. The also own or control any store, theatre, shop or whatever is there. If they don’t own the business, they own the building. And they get their cut.

Again, this isn’t new. And it’s happening all over. And the tree hugging, granola eating stooges flock there by the thousands. Now here’s the kicker...

I have NO ISSUE if some retard wants to live like that. I couldn’t care less if they don’t want to drive a car. But it is largely those people, the people who think like them and the sympathizers with them who think it is their RIGHT to say we should all give up our car and live like them. That I have issues with. But they are militant. One might think I’m embellishing a bit when I say they rather you be...how do I say this...either forced to comply or simply erased from society.

Over 30 years ago I was involved in the politics of this. I went to countless meetings, hearings, focus groups and everything else and I can tell you back then they were planning for this.

When I say this is about communist control of your free movement you can bet your *** and everything else you have I’m not wrong. You see, I grew up in Portland Oregon, the marxist playground of the Pacific Northwest. It’s not Seattle or San Francisco. It’s Portland, the dumping ground and test bed for marxist policy out west.

Truth is hard. Doesn’t make it any less true.

Maybe "lightning rod" was too strong of a word.

If the folks came up with a light weight 1500 ft lb torque motor for $1000.00 I'd go electric today

Well yeah the government don't want people like us running and keeping running these old cars, that's a fact. When they want to pull the plug on the old car hobby they will. We are already seeing it at Barret Jackson etc, rich guys will end up with the nice specimens and it will only be so they can walk out in the barn and look at them not for driving. We are in the mildde of the end right now. IMO. Places like the forums here is like the black market for parts LOL! it will get to where you have to know someone to keep these cars running and driving if it isn't already.

It may come to that if gasoline goes away. Isnt california already requiring retrofitted emission compliant engines in classic cars? I seem to recall Chris Titus mentioning it years ago.

To complicate matters worse, newer cars are equipped with transponders that talk to other cars and markers placed on the roads. I foresee a time when, for the sake of safety, any vehicle on the road must be equipped with transponders so other self-driving cars can spot you... and for other reasons.

100% bullshit.
False. Disagree with a few point but to respond with "100% bullshit" is not accurate.
The man may be obnoxious at times but he is not 100% wrong.
There already IS a system of reliable refueling in place. Gasoline stations are aplenty.
The electrical grid is already beyond the designed limits in many places yet they want to add more demand without substantial upgrades at taxpayer expense?
Battery material mining is as bad if not worse than oil exploration...
Electric cars are a scam.

Funny you say I just saw a Dominoes pizza commercial with driverless delivery. I right away thiought of what could possibly go wrong, car accidents people stopping the vehicle wiot any means possible to steal the pizza. Doesnt anyone think 5 steps ahead any more. I suppose they dont teach it or your not supposed to wonder .

With 1500 ftlbs, you might think, that a transmission would be almost redundant.
But
In first gear, my 367 has the potential to deliver;
430 x3.09 x3.55=4717ftlbs at say 4800 rpm
in second gear this drops to a max of;
430 x1.92 x3.55=2930, in third
430 x1.40 x3.55=2137,in Third-over (GVod);
430 x1.40 x.78 x 3.55=1667
in Fourth; 430 x1.0 x3.55=1526, still at 4800, so finally your 1500, oh wait, still seeing tail lites.
But on the shifts it's a good thing that the torque drops to about 90%, reducing all these funtastic numbers to about 90%,
To get 1500 off idle, the 367 engine torque needs to be;
1500/ (3.55 x3.09)=just 138ftlbs, which on the graph is where? IDK I can't find it either........ lol.
so I guess by the math, after about 120 mph, your 1500 will best my lazy-azz pos 367.
So I guess your 1500 will still need some kind of torque multiplier below 120 mph, lol.
But then, you might have an even bigger problem with tirespin than I do,lol.

Here is a Hughes engine build similar to mine.

Yeah that 1500 was just a hypothetical dream. I bet someone could make some 2.20 gear ratio & a 40 inch slick to compensate for tire slip & if it hooks good may have to put some 10ft long wheelie bars on it

Yano,
when everything has been converted to electricity, and the electricity stops flowing, we're in deepchit. And you cannot even get away. I'd rather have 60 or 80 pounds of gas on board than hundreds and hundreds of pounds of stinking useless at that point, batteries.
As a Believer, and knowing that I will be on a government hit-list shortly, I keep my tank full at all times. and fresh gas nearby, and I keep a points distributor just as handy. When I gotta run, mychit will go. With overdrive, my Barracuda can be set up to go about 450 or more miles on a tankful of gas, and still sprint to 106 in the 12s.
Electric vehicles will be like dogchit; found everywhere, dried up, and in the way, with the owners walking away. Can you not see that this is an evil ploy? The electric car owner is on a very short leash.
And when Biden starts driving up the price of gas to make you think about electric cars, try to stay focused; he is just leashing you shorter; he is NOT your friend! First he will take away the guns, and then your mobility will go. Then he will come for the Christians, and the "useless eaters". Set your clocks to Biden time and watch it play out. Movies have been made about this, prophesying it for several decades, already.
God says he never does anything without His prophets telling us about it first. That was done about two thousand years ago.
Satan also prophecies, but he's a lil slower. Get your collective heads out of the sand boys, satan has already been announcing his plans for something like 70 years; now you just gotta wait a lil bit longer. Everything goes according to God's master plan, satan cannot hurry it. Trump was a blip on the timeline to accomplish God's plans. That's over now, so get ready.
But don't worry; very soon you won't be able to buy even a loaf of bread, much less a new electric leash. But hey, at least you won't have a mortgage anymore........ Oh wait, you won't own anything anymore. The state will own it all, and rent it back to you. And if, or rather when, you can no longer meet the rent payment, out you go, the state will re-allocate your home to someone who can. Seeya.

Dig a well, you can only survive about three days without water. Just don't let your neighbors see you do it, or it will be a community well. Abraham had to dig three wells to finally keep one for himself ......
i'm not worried i have my own well and 200 gallons of sunoco 260 in the garage . things will not go that fast e have 20 years of good times left . wait till they start charging for that erectricity , my house is 800 a month and how do i measure it ?? I take their word that that is what i consumed . at least i can measure and see a gallon of gas , what does 300 miles of erectricity look like ?

I can respect the work and technology, but not my thing. I’m all for renewable energy, provided it’s competitively priced. Also, how are all these batteries going to get recycled? Top it off with a lot of the batteries being made in or by Chinese companies and it’s a big turnoff for me.
renewable energy like hydro in queerbec flood hundreds of thousands acres of earth cooling trees with a huge heatsink pool of water , wonderful idea

I'll lmao when a solar flare happens making everything electric useless. Most people have no idea how to even cut firewood anymore...just the fireplace tv channel on & order some food off the app

I like the idea. I am NOT a tree hugger. I realize that electric cars are NOT EVEN CLOSE to being as green as their fans insist. AND I do not think electric cars are going to significantly cut down on pollution. However, I think it is a cool idea. Properly done, my 69 Barracuda could be wickedly fast and provide a smooth quiet ride. A 90 mile range would be a problem, but there are enough charging stations around that I would be OK with a range of 150 miles. Will I do it? No. I like the rumble of my 340. But if I had the money, I would have 2 1969 Barracudas that looked the same. One would be a smooth, slick, professionally done electric conversion that popped when the hood and trunk were opened, and the other a ripping 340 4 speed.
