I have a 340 TA engine that I am considering stroking and would like some opinions as to weather the engine is more valuable to resell as an original TA or not. I would like to use the original 6pack setup. Heads are all original except for porting and polishing. Bore is .030 over. I could purchase a short block from blueprint engines and sell my engine separately instead of building it. Thoughts?

don't butcher an original TA engine ,it is worth big $$ to the right person

I agree, seen short blocks sell in the mid 1,000's get the VIN off it an post it, the guy who has that car would buy you a stroker...

You should post the VIN of the engine. The owner of the car may be looking for it. You never know.

I had an over the counter T/A block and sold it for 2200 bucks way back in 2005. That was just the block. The customer I sold it to looked for over a year to find one. He was willing to pay 3000 for it but I took some money off because we had the job to build it. And he was damn glad to pay it.

A 360 is the block to base Your stroker engine.

Sell the TA and reap the $$ benefits. If the 6 pack is original sell that too and buy new replacents for your hotrod.

Keep it together and find the guy with the car... Odds are pretty good it's around somewhere. I'd sell everything together. Your car isn't anything special and you can finance a good build, including a new set of carbs and intake, with the proceeds.

what makes you think the odds are the car is out there?

stands to reason, if the engine got parted, the car might have bit the bullet too

Not necessarily Blueprint, but you said it right there. If the T/A does not exist any more, it is likely that someone in the know will be aware of the fact. If it is, someone would probably be very happy to reunite it. There are people who will pay you a good dollar for that engine. Granted there are some folks who would buy it to hold it for ransom. Regardless, you should be able to come out ahead overall.

Ta340s were an oddball not very many cars will they fit in but I will give you some money to take it off your hands ( cash )

Screw it man. It's just a T/A motor. Bore it .125" over, stroke it 1/2" and turn it nine grand.

Just curious, how does one not know the value of anything one year only T/A or AAR and where are the pictures?

And just what cars from 62-78 will the 340 not fit in?
I'm just trying to throw others off the trail lol. yes it'll fit in just about anything and is probably the most valuable production mopar small block ever made and very possibly the best.

AARs are simply not that hard to find. So odds are it's around. I've seen AARs made into drag cars with cages and big blocks and OEM drivelines long gone. A car that was club raced (road racing) chances are the OEM engine would have been pulled, and this one was rebuilt so it could have been pulled after it broke. Even if it's not the same VIN, someone with a restoration needs the date coded TA specific stuff. Post the VIN, and it will get plenty of attention.

I always wonder that when obviously, they all have the same internet we do.
