Looks like when a member gets his Mopar car for sale..... SOLD< SOLD< SOLD.... he should man up and tell what he got. That is what is know as a comparable sale, others can use when buying/selling/ I ask, am I wrong?

Nothing to do with manning up, I disagree.
Nobodies business what I sell anything for. When we bought the 67, that was a stipulation that the price wasnt disclosed.
If you want to know what it sold for, then be the buyer...shake the months outta yer wallet lol:poke:

I agree with 4spdragtop, it's really no ones business what something sold for. If you want to know, go to "Conversation" & ask. If they wish to divulge what they got fine, if not, it's their business.

There are far too many factors car to car to use what someone sold for as a guide to price your own car or a car you are looking at buying. Even the old guide of "this is a solid #2 car" is bogus because I seen some claimed #2 cars that were the same #2 you'd flush and #1's really be #4 because "very little rust" meant you can only put your finger through 1/4 of the car.

Yea I agree with above comments. It is personal information for the buyer and the seller. If either wishes to share it is at their discretion.

Just an observation but more often than not....With cars No seller is gonna reveal what they let their supposed goldmine go for unless they really stuck it to the buyer. The buyer brags about what a steal they got, but they never reveal how much they bent over for the car they have always wanted. Now if it’s a house then there’s the weird phenomena of the buyer bragging about how much their house cost! :realcrazy:

yup, none of your beeswax

(i mean, i get it, it is nice to know, but we just arent that close)

you can always punch in the car you want on ebay and select "sold items" or whatever the marker is

If someone I know on the site queried me about something I sold, I might give them a ball park figure, something like; I got between $***.00 & $***.00. If I know them really well & know why they are asking, I would tell them in Private Conversation.

Yep none on my business.
But I also think of ALL the thousands of "what is this car, or my car, or whatever car, is worth????????" threads.
For sale ads, sure we read the ask price, sometimes looks very fair, or many times it is what is that guy smoking??. Sometimes we see the price drop over months, then it is SOLD or many times just taken off the ad. If it actually sold, what he got , who knows.
Anyway, I guess this just popped into my head. If I am personally interested in a car thats for sale, just figure what it is worth to me, which will generally be less that what it would be to many. So in reality, my question and its answer would help maybe some people. My money, their money,
I really only care what the market is here IF I am trying to buy. What someone pays in NY or Ca is of no real interest. If I have followed a local ad for sale, I will lots of time call back and see if it sold and ask if he got his price, if he does not mind me asking.
If I have a car for sale, very seldom will anyone want to pay shipping all the way across country.
Yep, none of my business!!!!!

Each car is so different that I think its valid to start a thread and politely ask members how much they think its worth before putting it up for sale. There is nothing that annoys me more than someone not knowing how much their car is worth so they ask $20k obo and see how high they get for their basket case.
If it makes you feel any better, I bought my 4 door 68 dart for $1200. That doesnt really tell you much without seeing the car inside and out in person though.

It's none of your Business. Wow how dare the original person that asked the question. What if I said I sold this for $1 How does this affect your curve? :)

Years ago I was at the Reno Swap meet where a guy bought a '50 Merc for $15k then drove it around to the auction block and sold it to the highest bidder for $25k. All three party were happy for what they sold it for and what the buyer paid.

Yep, you’re wrong. Nunya.

Plenty of opinions here but I'm with the OP.
It is annoying when someone joins a forum and brags about a great car he/she just bought but refuses to tell the purchase price. This serves as a disservice to other members. These cars are still lurking in garages, side yards and farmhouses and knowing a fair price of previous sales helps determine a baseline for future transactions.

i will not criticize anyone for whatever they want to do regarding talking about a sales price or a purchase price for their car. i will only say that i have no problem telling people what i have paid for my cars as i intend on keeping them. when i have offered "my opinion" of the value of a car to someone who has asked here on FABO, i have given a price that is in line with all the scores of cars i look at weekly on Ebay, Facebook Marketplace, Craig's list and sometimes, the national car auctions offered for sale all over the U.S. with that said, i fully understand values for old mopars vary significantly in different regions of the U.S. ultimately, what an owner sells his car for comes down to how bad he needs to sell it or what he thinks is a "decent profit" and what someone will pay for any given car is based upon how bad they want or need that car. i paid $22k for the rolling chassis M-Code 69 Cuda i have but i wanted one of those cars. after giving American Metal Direct $11k for their work and another $3500 for the donor car shell i purchased, i have around $37k in that car and it will still need at least another $10k. but my plan was to end up having about as much money invested in the car as it would probably be worth and given that M-Code Cudas sell for at least $45k, i'm happy with my current investment in the car. but i know lots of guys at the car cruises that i go to here in the Pittsburgh, PA area that have invested THOUSANDS of dollars in their cars that they will never get back. but they love the car they way they built it. so i'm certainly not going to criticize what they invested.

Back in Missouri, I had a couple dozen Mopar friends, maybe more like 3 or 4 dozen. We always knew what cars we had and if forsa le, what was the as or price and if sold, what it brung. Never was any secret. I guess we were good enough friends in our ircle.
My days of being on the hunt is bout done, and I have no problem with keeping up with prices. But knowlng what cars actually bring makes a huge difference to the new guy. The new guy nd all the info he can get whether how to work on a car or what to look for when buying, and what is a realistic price for that particularcar!
Like in the real world, prices quoted for cars, especially projetss, on FB Marketplae and CL is NOT usually the real world. Actual sale prices are the real world.
You guys are right, what you sold for or paid is NONE if my business and I personally give a chit about the $. ha
