I almost felt sorry for Nick wasting his time on this fustercluck, but I guess he got views out of it too...
Nick was a proffessional, he just stated what he found no opinions that's a pro. he didn't throw anyone under the bus (on camera anyway) LOL! I bet in his mind he was shaking his head and saying "..geez what a bunch of hacks..." :)

I don't hate him Just don't think he's the pope of the automotive/Mopar world. Anyone whos wrenched for a living knows what I'm talking about. There's real world and there's bullshit. Real world is you are out in your garage doing it, bullshit is watching UTG on your couch when you should be out in the garage doing it. :)

So uncle Tony isn’t a perfect squared away, life long mechanic, college degree engineer, or complete expert...

He got called out for a piston swapping technique that he uses for CHEAP, BUDGET rebuilds by guys that DO GET BOXXED Edelbrock heads at will, buy 71 Road Runners, challengers, and complete cars at will, have hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of vehicles to fool around with.
He got mad and challenged them back in UT’s domain of budget rebuilds.

Why are so many here so judgmental over that mistake?

You guys are COMPLETELY correct about the LO 318-taking promotional ‘ownership’/responsibility for a disaster and placing blame-

BUT!!!, nobody IS perfect!

Not gonna trash him, but he was good with running up the r's on the dyno with low oil psi. His explanations were sensless too.
The whole thing was a "kooters garage" type a deal...the accent didn't help either.

Like... they all hang from the ball hairs of mopar hot words to stay relevant. Idk. I can't find the words but... 'entertaining' is not a word I'd use to describe that series.

I was actually pretty impressed with Bottle Rockets 60 ft times..... 1.72 on all motor, and wheel spin. His suspension is just junk and don't work for a worm for what he's trying to do.

But again, that's 4.56's and I'd guess he's leaving at 4k rpm's.
 
I don't think Freiburger and co. Would even do it. I don't think I'd do it...I mean who welds a rounded off cam and regrinds the lobe...yes if you are on a deserted island and you can't find a replacement cam. One of uncle Tony rules is no new internal parts, a little ridiculous IMO...They are both suppposedly starting with junkyard 318 ...also they can say "uncle Tony, what about our original callout?..." you have yet to prove reversing pistons is a actual power gain.

Yup. He's in Tennessee. I "hear" there's a really BIG cam company there too. I'm sure he knows somebody there. It's not a stretch at all.

I cant see why a new cam is not the end of the world price wise. If you are in the business of making money you do what is cost effective for you and the customer.. Now if it is some cam that you cant get any more then I can see doing itdicking around welding and grinding a lobe...then measuring it and dicking around some more etc.etc.

Cams used to be welded and reground all the time (probably still are). As a kid in the late 80s I drove a truck for an auto parts place and went to a local engine rebuilder weekly. You can watch them do it, all day. It's a thing. Not even sure why this is being questioned.

I get the feeling if he say it was a bad idea, someone would call him out by saying "But older metal is better, weld and regrind!"

I'm sure it is a thing but your average garage mechanic isn't going to do it they will order a new one and R&R it heck even today they may just do a straight engine swap because a reman engine has a warranty like said cost effective.

Well, I can get a new roller for my magnum for almost 400, or I can get one from the bone yard, send it out for a weld regrind for quite a bit less.... cost effective...

My point is, all of this crap on this thread is based on someone (not saying who, they know who they are) are jealous as f*** he's getting attention and the petty jealous types aren't... They would rather scream from the rooftops how much of an idiot UT is.

It's way easier to knock someone else down than to elevate ones self, and that is almost always how these threads begin.....

Justin where would you limit RPM’s per pound of oil pressure?

many older guys told me that you don’t need as much as conventional wisdom says.

It seemed to me in his explanations that he wasn't saying what should have been said which would have been something like "..I've haven't seen such hack work in quite a while..." :)

I bought a new cam in March, I called the company, their representative said that it was in stock. It wasn’t. Manufacturing time table? I still don’t have the camshaft. Others might not have this problem but I called and asked because people here on FABO said that there was a shortage.

my guess is that at the level of fame Freiburger & Dulcich are at, this is not a problem. At the level of finance Uncle Tony appears to be working at (he did just buy a huge shop) this COULD BE a problem for him, never mind the low level budget he seems to be operating at.

I think that some of his critics here on this thread could very well be ahead of him in skills and or experience, which if they illustrated would further validate their opinion but would be bad social form to strut as a peacock.

I don’t think it is bad form (despite my previous post) to criticize UT or RK just for my personal taste not to gang up on him. In no way is anyone in this thread out of line as I see it.

it would be great for some sort of challenge and competition to occur.

if anyone mocked any of us the way RK did UT we would be upset. I know I would talk some smack back and challenge them too!
 
Like said it depends on what it is, some have cam grinds they like and if it isn't available will reman them. I personally wouldn't mind having the 68 340 manual trans cam.
