Looks like you have a nice commando car! I believe a formula S would have the tach on the left side of the dash and S badges on the fenders.

Somewhat unusual.

...and very cool.

Wonder if it has other "s" options?

heres the body tag. Looks like a model S to me..see the big S.

I believe a Formula S would have a "2" under the "C".

That was a quick lookup.

Decoding the rest of the tag would be interesting.

I'm mainly a 66-74 guy, and I don't know all of the pre 66 stuff (and not even all the 66 stuff).

Not a Formula S
In the alphabet row, it would need to have the number 2 under the letter C.

The 31 under the AB does signify a 273-4 barrel.

Check out this document:

Some fender tags may have an S shaped hole punched in them. This is an inspection punch stamp. It has no meaning other than an inspector at that factory did his or her job and inspected the car that day.

Power brakes?

That's interesting.

Only seen a handfull of those.

Does have a scuff plate on the hump for the accelerator peddle.

Can you post some under carriage pictures... floor pans, rear, exhaust, suspension. have you tried to get into the trunk via the divider panel. You could then pop the trunk.
Sure can.. I can't reach the splitter because the trunk is filled with parts..
