Friday I parked the Bcuda on the sidewalk in the shade to wax it. A guy walking his dog asked “What motor? That thing have the 442 in it?”
I replied “Naw, Detroit 6-71”
He said Cool and walked on with his dog.

what I like is when you go to auto parts store and the 18 year old asks you how many liters my 66 barracuda motor is.

You got away with that? In california? Im surprised it wasn't impounded! I surely would have at least got a ticket, if i tried that!

You mean parking in the sidewalk? In West Oakland anything goes. At least until the condo developers ruin everything.

I was recently in an "Advance Auto" store. I picked up a few things from the aisles, walked up to the counter and the counter guy said " is that all?" I said " do you have any Plastiguage?". He said "ahhh, let me see..." he proceeded to walk over to the hot rod section where the gauges are and said "these are all the gauges we have right here..." I said, "nevermind that will be all..."

When I went to the auto parts store the other day for my wife's headlight bulb, I asked the youngster behind the counter if they had any flexible metal pre-heater hoses for my air cleaner. He didnt know what that was, and asked what car it was for, I said a '70 Dart. His next question was "what brand of car is a Dart?"
"I'll just take the bulb, thanks"

That... is Hilarious! But also sad but true...

To be fair to the guy, in the same year many classic Mopar, GM, and Ford cars look the same, though the innards are much different. Indeed, you can often tag the year better than the model, like 1967 was the year all went from still slightly roundish bodies to overly square (even acute angles). But, the sloping Barracuda rear glass is hard to miss, so at best perhaps mistake it for a Mustang fast-back.

You have a point there, Bill

But that is what I liked so much about the old body styles. They were unique, unlike what's out there today. Some of the old Mopars were downright ugly, but they were beautiful!!!
