10 shoes on 10 drums...that's the ticket. Make sure the return springs are good. The shoes are properly mounted and the adjuster is correct. Asbestos (extinct) shoes will give you a nice "velvet" brake application but will fade. Modern shoes will work fine.

Thank you for the pictures. On mine, I have the last return spring going over the post. Looks like it might be contacting the shaft coming out of the wheel cylinder. I will try to turn it over and see if it still makes contact. That would cause the front shoe to not return for sure.
