What do I have

Where is your (front ) "shoe retract assist spring" AND your 'rear parking brake' link? I cant see your brake pics....I thought you were missing that link bar. Pulsing brakes could be ultra thin drum walls too, ie way out of spec.

The same 10" front brakes were pretty much the same as the '67-72 stuff. They changed some of the self adjuster parts, but, if you get a complete set for any year, it will work.

check 66 Valiant 273 for 10 front drums. Seems the Barracuda listings are all disk on Rock.

A pull on drum brakes is usually a maladjustment; but together with the scraping and release issue, I'll guess that one set of shoes is rubbing on the outboard SIDE of the drum. Looking inside the drum, it should be obvious.
Perhaps a rear drum has been inadvertently installed on the front.

Or like Pishta is alluding to, the park-brake return spring is rubbing on the drum as it turns.

Don't forget that the self-adjusters have left AND right hand threads and therefore are side-specific. If one is wrong, it will un-adjust that side, soon causing a pull as the other side is doing all the work.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think any parts got switched as I did one side at a time. I'M starting on the front. Having the drums turned again to check for out of round and I had the tires balanced again. I found a source for all new brake hardware and should have them later this week. I did notice a slight difference in the front drums, but they appear to be the originals. Will be doing the same on the rear.

Since I did one side then the other, I never noticed a difference in the front drums. Driver side appears to be aftermarket. Guess my dad was trying to chase brake issues with the car too. Although the drums appear different, I measured the diameter and depth and they were the same.
