Hey folks,

Being new to the 340 engine, I have a question. My car has the heater delete so no heater hoses to deal with. However, I saw a photo of another car that had a hose running from the water pump to the intake manifold as shown below with my first grade drawing abilities. Can anyone explain the benefit of doing this?

Thanks!

I don't think any real benefit since the bypass hose is doing the exact same thing. It looks cleaner the way you have it.

More than likely their heater core started leaking, and instead of repairing the heater core they just cut the hose short and connected it to the other fitting.

Since they had both fittings already, they took the easy way out instead of changing to plugs.

I agree with @go-fish, looks cleaner without it if you're not running a heater.

Put a brass plug in the water pump. One less piece of rubber to worry about
