Hey guys. Slowly getting this car set. I have a question. I’m doing my rear end conversion from a 7.25 to a 8.75. Doctor Diff has supplied my axels for the LBP conversion. Just got back my plates (10” B Body) from the machine shop. Their all cleaned up and I painted them. So I’m going to load them up on Friday with all the parts. Here’s the question. For the parking brake, what cables do I need to match them up to the car? I have the standard pull parking brake under the drivers dash.

1971 Scamp, /6, auto 7.25 currently

Thanks

I believe that I used the original brake cables when I made the conversion on a 64 Valiant, but that was decades ago, so that's what I remember.
Look up part numbers for the different applications to see if they are the same.

The stock hand brake cables will work . I went with 11x2.5 rear drums and backing plates and the stock (But new ) handbrake cables worked fine. Are you sure the B-Body backing plates will work with your axles? I think there is a difference between B-body backing plates and A-Body plates.

Yup :)

Are hand brake cables different than foot pedal parking brake cables? Anyone know if 8-1/4 cables and backing plates will work on an 8-3/4?

All BBP backing plates are interchangeable, body style doesn't make a difference. The only reason there are different A-body backing plates is because of the SBP axles. With BBP axles, the B-body plates will work fine.

The emergency brake cables are not axle specific, you can use the 8.25" cables on an 8 3/4. All 8.25" backing plates would be for BBP axles and would have the BBP axle flange offset, so as long as you're using them with BBP axles they will work with an 8 3/4 housing.

So my 7.25 rear parking cables will not work? I’ll have to get b body cables?

Your 7.25” parking cables should work fine, like I said, they’re not axle specific.

The B-body 8 3/4 backing plates should also be fine with the LBP DoctorDiff axles.
