Is there a shorter mount available when putting a 727 in? Hitting rubber snub at top of tunnel....

If they don't make a shorter mount you could easily add some metal to the trans mount brace and move the large mounting holes to a better position allowing you to lower the whole brace.
Of course this will change the pinion angle but so will the shorter mount!!

What rubber snub? I had a 65 dart that I put a 340 with a 727 in nd had no problems.

There is a chunk of rubber bolted in the trans tunnel. Directly above crossmember mount. I'll attach a pic tomorrow. So in the previous pic with the trans and crossmember not fitting, the tail is up against the rubber snub. Need the rubber mount in the crossmember to be 1" shorter...

I can't find a rubber mount that is as short as oem - the ones they sell now are too tall by about 3/4". I have the same problem as you if I change out the mount.... :( so I have the original mount in mine....

The reason is because the aftermarket switched to the 67 and up transmission mount for everything from 60-72. They stopped making the correct shorter one and also stopped making the dual stud one in favor of the single stud like the 67 and up. Good luck finding the right one. I think I actually have one, but it has some checking in the rubber, but it's still good.

Try removing the snubber and seeing how much clearance you have. Really not sure why you would need it anyway. Trans is bolted to the mount which is bolted to the crossmember, so it shouldn't be flopping around.

But at any rate if the trans still doesn't clear with the snubber removed, then I'd be thinking that two mounting bolts or no, maybe you have the wrong trans mount. It's been a while since I've eyeballed mine, but I don't remember it sticking up so much above the crossmember. You have a B body mount maybe?
