522 RB Build

Got the oven going yesterday--Blower motor and a burned fuse later it works very well. First test was turning a set of polished aluminum Summit covers into Black Wrinkle finish-cured @ 200F 1hr.

Coated the pistons for the 522 today and they turned out pretty well. Time will tell how they hold up. J.Rob

did you heat the valve covers a little before you sprayed them?

did you notice increased durability of the paint afterwards?

Try baking engine brackets with common cheap spray paint. I think you’ll notice the paint ends up tougher, less imperfections, less fisheyes that you get with today’s lousy spray paints. Plus everything is bolt on ready in about an hour.

I think that oven can really pay benefits.
