I have a 64 valiant station wagon that needs new mounts. It originally came with a 170 slant six but now has a 225 that’s 1968-1970 from what I can tell by the block code. Should the new mounts correspond to the engine year or the vehicle year? Are there even any differences between mounts of those years? Thanks!

You need '62-'66 A-body Slant-6 mounts. Buy the compressed-cow-poo garbage from the parts store if you want to keep doing the job again and again. (if the mounts they'll sell you are actually correct; no guarantees)

Buy these if you want to do the job once and never again.

On my 63 Valiant slant six 225, I had to put a 1/4 inch steel plate under the passenger side motor mount. It's because the distributer was touching the wheel housing. Are my mounts just old and dead? Or is there a difference in how tall they should be? They are original that came with the car when I got it, but don't look squished.

Yes. Replace all three.

No. All '62-'66 A-body Slant-6 mounts are dimensionally the same.
