Dr. Diff 11.5" front brakes showed up tonight
Put the 11.5" brakes on tonight. Here are my thoughts on the kit.
1) Well packaged for shipping
2) Good price
3) SS brake lines have the terminal that bolts to the caliper: now a small circular not the big block with the concentric sealing circles. We shall see how these seal and hold up. Copper washers were supplied.
4) Needed to keep and reuse the original 3 bolts (per side) for the dust shields. All other fasteners were supplied. the Mounts for the calipers have 3/8" hex socket bolts inlieu of the bolts like the factory units.
5) One of the calipers fought me to fit into the mount that holds it. Once the paint chipped off the caliper, it fit in the grove of the mount.
6) Front dust cover for the wheel bearings: Do not fit well, it has 4 "pinged" dots that are supposed to snug the fit into the outer rotor.
7) Rotors: The grip surface for the brake pads is rough. I cleaned the surface with a hydrocarbon cleaner, (Berrymans B12 spray) and the cloth was sheading fibers due to the rough surface. Hmmm?
