Just wondering if anyone uses fuel system treatment for their A-bodies. The new-to-me '70 Dart i got in September still has the fuel in it from the previous owner. I've been driving it here and there but haven't filled it yet trying to get rid of the old gas; Its getting a new fuel filter today, so thought Id ask if there's any recommended products to help clean up any varnish/ old crap. I've used STP fuel system cleaner and Castrol Techron products in the past on my newer cars. Anyone have any thoughts or will I ruin stuff using those products?

Any thoughts are appreciated!

There's a product called "HEET" that works well. Make sure to get the RED bottle. It's good for removing moisture and restoring fuel. It's cheap, too. Not too often do you find things that are cheap and WORK, but it does.

Just by ethanol gas it has plenty of alcohol to remove water, no need for heat any longer.

restoring fuel? LOL. NO such thing. Bad gas is bad, if you add to it you have more bad gas.

I bought a $10 electric fuel pump on Amazon. You can pull the line off your fuel pump and use it to pump it out if you need to.

Then you need to figure out what to do with gallons of bad gas. No legal suggestions on my part.....

Or run the engine off a gas can gravity feed and put the feed line into another can to use the engines fuel pump to pump it out. I might do a quality 'check for crap' and pull pickup/sender out of the tank while its empty.....Hell drop the tank and check it too.

Carry spare fuel filters with you.No matter what fuel system cleaner you use. Just a CYA.

I've used the Lucas cleaner I buy at Walmart in 32oz (I think) bottles in my Dakota and small engines (lawn mower, generator, etc.) I know it works because I've had issues starting my lawn mower after it sat for a long time. After just adding the Lucas and letting it sit for a few days, it started right up! Used regularly in my generator and it starts right up after sitting for months.

Fuel additives.
Me.... ~3oz. every 10 gallons in modern everyday driver car. Tecron once or twice a year.

Carb cars ... Put some Lucas down the carb vent tube if it's not going to be run for some time.

In my 3500 Cummins I add 8ox of 2 stroke oil every fill up. That's approx. 500:1 ratio.
