Little project

My wife and I received a cnc cut metal shape of Lake Superior as a gift at Christmas from her sister and nephew. I wasn't sure how to use it so I decided on this.

I made some stencils of the bear, fish, lettering and arrowhead used a wood burning tool to make them.
I didn't intend for the knot to end up in Isle Royal. It kind of looks like an evil eye. My wife said the dark thin line of wood grain going toward the fish's mouth looks like fishing line.

Upon hearing this when I was young , was too dumb to know it was true , very chilling now that I`m old---er .

Those big islands, are the lived on? I had no idea they existed before this picture. Id sure love to spend a few years exploring that area. Nothing better in my opinion than be at or on the lake.

The the big island at the top is Isle Royal it’s a national park
And part of Michigan. I believe the only inhabitants are park rangers and the ones that run the lodge there and of course the wildlife.

At one time fisherman and their families and resort owner lived there. There was a mail ship that carried mail and supplies to the residents. It sank in the harbor there.

The one that’s at the western end represents a group of 22 islands which the Apostle Islands. The only one that’s inhabited is Madeline Island it has a town on it. It’s the only one not part of the park services Apostle Island Lakeshore area.

The one on the east side is part of Ontario,Canada. I don’t know if anyone lives there.
