Beating a dead horse (rear main seal controversy)

Doing a bb rear main seal. Again. Bought a Hughes rear main seal retainer. Tried a few trial runs trying to get the side seals and retainer installed simultaneously but to no avail. I'm curious to see what you guys think of putting some light adhesive on the retainer side of the seals, let cure and then put the retainer in the freezer overnight to contract the aluminum? Oh yeah, the motor is still in the car with the trans bolted up. Thanks, jeff

Certainly worth a try! Thinking outside the box is what makes the world better! I like the cold and heat methods to get things done and has worked well for me!
