F...ing eBay. I listed a carb for $350, they took 12.7 percent, $47 for fees. I’ve only bought in the past, not sold. Is this what I can expect? To make matters worse, you can no longer use PayPal with eBay !! Am I the only one who feels that I got bent over ??

I feel the pain. I had some Ertl cars that I wanted to sell and used Ebay. When I saw how much money they took for fees etc. I decided it wasn't worth the aggravation of getting boxes, packing material and standing on line at the PO making pennies on the dollar. That being said I just bought a cymbal and paid by PayPal.

I haven't been a Seller on ebay for a few years now.
Been getting e mails from them, stating if i want to sell, i need to update my personal account.
They want my social security number, and my date of birth, bank account number.
WTF is with that?
No way am i going to release that information to them.
Screw that.

eBay has gotten out of control. The only stuff that I list on there now are items that don't sell on the forums or on Facebook and I won't list anything on eBay over $20.00 anymore. 12.7% is no big deal on a $20.00 or less eBay sold item and sometimes that's the only way you can get rid of them.

Ive been a member on EBay since 1999. But I haven’t used them in a long time. Last time I used them I paid 10% selling fee, plus Pay Pal fees , and some BS shipping fee of $2.50. No I don’t need that BS.

Ebay doesnt understand the seller should be the one getting the Lions share of the sale. I wish Ebay would go back to the way they were in the beginning. Just like Barret Jackson and Mecum they got too big for their briches... But hey, do tell about the cymbal.

Did you not read the rules of engagement before listing? I stopped selling on Ebay a good 7 years ago.

Nothing too fancy but got a deal, a never played 1990s Sabian AA Medium Ride!

$47 on $350 is robbery. I was a power seller back 10 years ago until I opened my own website to sell on. I rent a server and after domain costs etc I am way ahead of the game vs selling on ebay.
What do you mean you cant use paypal on ebay anymore? If that's the case I wont be buying on ebay any more. I have had my ebay and paypal accounts since the day they started. No problems in all these years with paypal but ebay just steady goes progressively down hill.
They have made it near impossible to resolve an issue so it makes it very easy for people to rip you off.

I just hit a buy it now to see the payment options and paypal is still listed.

See post #3. They want to report your earnings and and tax you on everything. I'm out and not going back.
So that's what it's all about.
Didn't think of that, by getting your information, and keeping track of you under surveillance.

Its not ebay that is doing that its the federal government. This started a couple years ago. They are required to 1099 anyone that makes a certain income through online sales. I think its 20k up gets 1099.
As much as I hate taxes its only fair that online sellers have to pay tax too.
I would love to see a flate rate tax in this country. You shouldn't have to pay a higher rate of tax simply because you make more money. Its like getting penalized for working harder.

If it was the GM carburetor you had on here, there are plenty of places that don't charge ebags fees. Racing junk comes to mind, there are many Corvette sites out there also.

However, what did you pay for what you sold? What are your operating expenses? How much time/labor do you have in it? What is your profit? It is not all profit for me by any stretch of the imagination. If that's the game they want to play, I'm out. I liked Ben Carsons' view, if 10% is good enough for God it should be good enough for the government.

Welcome to the Republican party....now get out there and vote! I owe Ebay $2.50 for 'sellers fees' and I disconnected the paypal account from auto deduction so they keep banging me for the $2.50. Well, they F'n stole (auto deducted) $500 from me 2 years ago so they can keep asking.....

One year I made a little more than I usually do and I just made the next higher tax bracket. I got dinged way more than made doing the OT! My tax person said if that happens again, make a few Goodwill runs or charitable contributions to get your gross income right under the bracket. It may cost you a few hundred but could save thousands on your tax bill.

I still made out. I bought a Holly 3274
No’s correct off a 66 vette for $50. They guy said it was a 600 cfm. I sold it for $350 plus $20 for shipping. I had an hour in the deal. Wish I could find 100 more deals like that !! Takin out the fees I made $300 an hr.

Get ready for a lot more of it. You think cloud storage (and all the other internet stuff) will stay free? Get ready.....just like a drug pusher, get you hooked then raise the price.

ebay motors and most everything else on Ebay, so just charge a 15% fee on top of your shipping price and list it as such...complete transparency of Ebay fees are now known by the buyer.
  • 12.55% on total amount of the sale up to $7,500 calculated per item PLUS listing fee but you get a few free ones a month.

If you get bumped to a next higher tax, isn't only the amount you earned that is over the tax bracket threshold taxed at that higher rate??? For instance, if the 24% bracket is from $85k-$163, and your taxable income is $90k, only $5k is taxed at 24%, right? Whereas $85k of the $90k is taxed at the lower tax rates accordingly (10%, 12%, 22%). That's my understanding at least.

Worldwide audience with a household branded name..... People feel pretty secure buying on the site. Yep, the fees suck poo-poo but it is what it is..... Nice hussle BTW....
