What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

The exhaust was about to fall off the plow truck and they wanted nearly 300 bucks for that hump

So I got creative and decided to exit it before the rear wheel

About 40 dollars worth of parts, some of hangers from when I redid rhe duster, about an hour with a welder and Sawzall and good to go

Finished up reinstallation if the CalTracs - all cleaned up, greased up, and moving freely. We'll see if this solves the hard left turn on launches! Still have to set the car on the ground and adjust for preload.
Also installed the new shift light tonight. Hopefully with that blaring at me I'll learn to shift when appropriate instead of "whenever" all over the map like I did last week!!

Well I have had a shitty time wit the old Duster lately! I spun a rod bearing in August of last year and never got at fixing it till this spring. Had built a new 360 over the last couple years so I swapped that in there. Well it didn't run for 5 minutes and something came apart in the bottom end. Shitty! I guess I need a new motor builder!
Turns out I had a stock 78 318 with relatively low mileage sitting in the shop. Stuck a cheap Summit cam and lifters in it, an Edelbrock Performer 318/360 intake and my old 670 Street Avenger Holley on it. Just stuff I had laying around other than the cam.
So now it's all back together again. I'll fire it up tomorrow after work. Wish me luck!

Wish I had one! Milan closed so went to Lapeer. Lapeer too narrow but good for TnT. US131 would be great but about a 2:45 trip each way. May try Stanton - about a 2:10 trip. Getting there would be ok....but the pull home late at night after a (hopefully) long day.....

that would be quite a trip

US 131 is just under an hour drive for me, that keeps it doable

seems like dragstrips are dropping like flies
doesnt bother me too bad, since my duster is a driver, not a drag car, and i only go to "know what it would do" but still

installed a new water pump. could not get the paint in time so I painted after installed

Got my motor mount shims finished. 4 thick ones 2 thin ones. Now let's see if they actually work? :)

I pulled the 55 year old radiator and took to an old school radiator shop. He's going to flow test it and we'll go from there. It's just not cooling the 5.9 Magnum like it should. If it flow tests 100% I'll be looking at a Griffin.

A little detail in the trunk with some refreshing the paint, getting the reflector brackets in the right finish, cleaning up some wiring and redoing some of the original seam sealer that had cracked and separated. By the way the repop trunk mat I have is the "Better" quality one with rubber backing. It curls at the corners, anyone else have this issue?

I WAS going to try and drive my car for the first time after it being dormant for so long but no.
since I was just filling the float bowls before to run it, I did not know that the fuel pump was just screwed and was puking gas everywhere. This was the first fire up since I put in the new gas tank so it was actually running off of the gas in the tank which is good it just sucks that every time I make progress, I go backwards.

*something else weird... the fuel pump was a repop as well as the gas tank. then so was the fuel pickup . Its like someone tried to get it going in the late 80s then gave up.
