EQ318B Magnum heads discontinued ?

I do not have the heads yet.. a friend of a friend has a set that has never been used... I’ll have to find out if my 318 used flat tappet lifters or hydraulic roller... i’m trying to do this in my garage on my own with the engine still in the car... is this going to be a worthy upgrade performance wise on its own? I’m currently running dougs headers, they should bolt up to the magnum heads right?

Doug’s header will work. No problem there.
If these are in fact the older version EQ heads that were cast in either Australia or New Zealand then they are a good performance head when properly prepped. Make sure they are NOT the newer Chinese castings as these are no where near as good the previous versions.
You will need to figure out what the entire swap will cost you. Buying the heads, rocker arms, head bolts, pushrods, and having the heads checked by a good machine shop for guide sizing and valve job. If you are changing camshaft or using what you have, they will need to verify the valve springs test out properly too. Only then can you decide if the swap is worth the money it will cost.
I have no idea what valve to piston clearance would be with those heads using stock LA 318 pistons. A lot of that depends on your camshaft and will need to be checked.
