I recently purchased a full set of ACC carpet for my 1965 Barracuda. If anybody has installed carpet in a 1965 Barracuda I would appreciate any pictures or installation tips, especially for the cargo area.
Thanks

Can't help in the r.cargo area but when it comes time to make the holes for seats seatbelts etc.

Go buy a cheap pencil type soldering iron. Then from under the car push the iron up through the holes and through the carpet. It makes the hole and seals the fibers at the same time

Great tip-Thanks

Kitty and I installed the ACC carpet in my 64 Valiant. I know it's not a Barracuda, but the one bit of advice I have is be careful when you cut it. We cut a tad short in a place or two. We got it to blend so you can't really tell it. But if anything, double and triple check before you make cuts. Also, it helps to lay it all out in the sun a while and let it get good and hot and soft to work with.

I left the sides uncut while I did other stuff, I still had the dash, console, seats...

By then I was happy with it, after a few weeks. Then I trimmed the edges.

So what you are saying is that even though it’s supposed to be custom fit, it still has to be trimmed.

Most all carpet kits will be about 1-2" oversized on unfinished edges where there is no edge stitching, ie door sills. The rear cargo area stainless trim needs to come out, its all just screwed in, easy. lay it out and let it sun bake outside and inside the car if possible before you put the trim/anchors back on. Mine came out nice. Did you get a jute or tar underlay? Id recommend something under it besides just metal for sound deadening and insulation. There is a suprising amount of space in these cabs once all the seats are removed!

I used the 3M super 77 spray adhesive to install the carpet in my cargo area on my 69 which is similar. Blob it on thick near any unsecured edges or use some 3M black weatherstripping adhesive on the edges. Mine came loose on some of the edges. Make sure you have good ventilation using the adhesives. It takes awhile, I removed most of the sheet metal back there to install it.

As pista has said, while you have the carpet out, it is good to add some sound deadening stuff. I used a Dynamat clone from Amazon called Noico. It really quiets the car down a lot. I stuck it everywhere I could get it, except for the cargo area sides. Probably should have done that too.

I have had trouble in the past trying to keep the cargo area sides from ungluing. So now any time I do a cargo area on a 64-66 I take it to an upholstery shop. I have never had one come unglued when the upholster shop does the cargo area. Its been a few years since I did one but I think they charged me 200 bucks. I did the rest of the carpet

In most cases, yes. Usually only around the very perimeter. They normally leave them a little long to take up for variances in cars, since not all of them are exactly the same. After all, this was 1960s technology we're talkin about here. lol

That's probably because you used the 3M black weatherstrip. The 3M yellow is MUCH, MUCH stronger. You just have to be more careful with it, because yellow will show up some places where black would not. That yellow is some badass stuff.

Great info. I did not know that. I usually use the black stuff because I lack patience & skill.

I did take it to an upholsterer for an estimate. He wanted $450.00 for installation, more than I paid fo the carpet!
Thanks to everyone for your help and tips.

In my 65 Bcuda, I found it helpful to lay the floor carpet in untrimmed, smooth it out, lay sandbags in the low spots and park in the sun or use a space heater. It really helped the carpet form to the floor.
