No idiot in thinking it would swap over. I understand your reasoning. One other thing with mopar sb aftermarket balancers. They all come with timing marks oriented on drivers side(which is 70+). If your 68 is original your timing cover will have marks on pass side? Is this the case? If so you will need to remark your new balancer AFTER finding true tdc.

Thanks 4spd. The motor is a 68, but it's in a 72 RR and everything is orientated for a 72. Timing cover has timing marks on the driver's side, water pump has bottom hose on passenger side, etc. The balancer has been on the engine for three years and the dust shield was never an issue....until it was. I will say this. I really wish I'd bought a black balancer. The silver one I got from Summit got surface rust on it after a year. I had to pull it and clean it up and clear coat it. That is a very nice balancer you have!
