I agree with this to a great extent. Oil change on my RV is $150 if I do it, and $180 if the Mercedes dealer does it. For $30 I'm not crawling under the thing and getting my hands dirty. However, sometimes one has to say no. A few years ago in the late fall, a good friend got an estimate of $12,000 to replace a deck. It was a deck on a house with a walk out basement, so the deck was level with the main floor and about 9 feet above the ground out back. I told my friend that if he could wait until spring, I would help him build one. It took us about a month, but total cost was $2500, and I doubt if it would have looked better if built by the pros.
