Tell that to the shop sitting on twin 502 Merc Cuiser’s for years. LMAO…

Back to the OE program …

"In most cases, wouldn’t the prudent thing to do would be to buy & pay to install a warrantied rebuilt transmission? Versus paying to rebuild one?"

Well, prudence seldom enters the lives of many people....but regardless, whether it's a shop rebuild or a big-rebuilder rebuild, it costs money which people don't have. So the car sits.

I'm not the model of good financial sense by any means...I have some expensive car and other hobby habits. But I've lived within my means my whole life. I don't borrow money (for anything other than buying my first house), I don't spend money I don't have, and I recognize the concept of saving for a rainy day and all that. When I see a 50 year old who's spent his/her whole life living paycheck to paycheck....I don't feel a bit sorry for him/her. I have a number of acquaintances in that boat, and to a one they are also the same people who have spent untold thousands on alcohol, cigs, the party life, the new truck with nav and chrome interior accents, etc. I know it's popular to say, 'Oh, you don't know their story! Maybe they had cancer and lost everything! Maybe they faced demons!" Blah blah blah. The truth is I DO know their story and it's nothing to be sympathetic towards. Partying and stupid decisions. That's their story. No transmission for you! lol

Core charge gets you, ends up costing more with transmissions.
Buy trans, pay core ...then pay to have installed. Then if something goes bad... you pay again 'initially at least' to have it yanked out and inspected.

I will say this. There are plenty of people that worked hard all their lives, many with education, that were never dopers, alkies, whatever, and get too old to work and have no real saving or retirement plan. Just life and I do not look down on them.

I really don't know anyone who fit that description. If they exist, then I don't look down on them. Even people who have partied their life away, I don't look down on ....I just don't feel sorry for them, either.

But here in the USA? If you spend 40 adult years and have nothing to show for it....you made some bad decisions more than likely. I believe in places like India and Iraq and Croatia, that's not the case. Over there, you can do everything right and still not get ahead. But here....it's quite basic to cut off a piece of the pie. You might have to suffer a bit (the horror!) but you'll make it. Those who don't, most likely, made the mistake of thinking they could go through life without any pain. That applies to men.....there are multitudes of women who do very well in life without much work or pain.

whose fault is that ? they didn't plan for the futur , spent more than they had . it takes discipline and not looking at what others have being happy with what you have . i don't look down on anyone , sure as hell don't feel sorry for them , you make your choices and you have to live with the results

They lack discipline, we’re never taught it or never learned themselves the right thing to do.

Back to the topic at hand, what the thread is really all about…

.
No cfm is volume not speed.

Yeah the web kinda says the same:

Cubic Feet Per Minute (CFM) is a measurement of airflow volume, determined by how many cubic feet of air pass by a stationary point in one minute.
.
No cfm is volume not speed.
It just seems to me that volume is the cubic foot or feet part, and the FLOW RATE is the ‘per minute’ transferring air, fuel, fluid volume over time like gallons per minute flow rate of fuel pumps ???????

I bitched about that here a while back where a young sailor under my leadership either forgot to bring his rain coat or didn’t purchase one after uniform allowances- not that big of a deal until he refused to take his post and stand watch without someone else providing him with a‘borrowed coat’

I was furious that the command enabled his ineptitude and bad attitude instead of teaching him a lesson.
Kids expect their parents grace.

My father served in WWII in the Pacific...he told of a sailor who never took showers, was smelly, and was always getting the unit demerits. That happened a few times and he didn't seem to be getting the message....so one day he was taken into the shower by the rest of the unit and scrubbed -with lots of soap and those wire brushes they used for removing paint off the ship's hull.

He said after the guy got out of the infirmary, he took a shower every day....

Sometimes you may have to make a point that some **** won’t be tolerated.
