Guess that noise

Time to pop a valve cover off
My guess is, you send a pushrod through the rocker arm

Really can't tell, The ticking or the drone ?

Ticking stops or changes when you let off the gas
Do you have a shroud?
Motor mount allowing too much movement fan hitting shroud????

It gets faster with engine speed. flex plate bolt? something on the accessory drive loose? I think the next question is "where does it sound like it's coming from?".

it sounds similar to when I had rod bearing failure a couple years ago. (2 rod caps were mistakenly swapped during assembly)

dropped the oil and cut open the filter. No metal found.

I’ll check the pulley bolts when I get home. The flex plate bolts you’d think would make the noise all the time.

Torque converter expands a bit under load and the crank can be moving for and aft under loads vs unloads.

If there is something close might be just enough to contact.

Will it do it power brakeing?

I had a spun rod bearing on a Ford 6 banger and it made the tick ( more like a thunking) all the time just louder under any load.

Torque converter bolts and or dust cover are my guess without more info.
Is it solid or poly motor and trans mounts or still rubber?

all rubber mounts
had it up on the hoist power braking it and it was hard to get it to make the noise.

stethascope. pin point if its in the bell housing. May have to put her up on jacks and play Dr.

Oooops....you have lift. disregard 'jacks'

This is a stretch but everything else has been mentioned,

Any dents in the valve covers?

Also, try disconnecting speedo cable and test drive.

Okay this might be in left field...but are you sure it's coming from the engine side and not something rattling in the interior/under the dash/window components/etc?

Few years ago my car had a nasty rattle, consistent with RPM but only from idle to about 2000.
I was going crazy trying to pinpoint it while it was happening....finally one day I went into the trunk with a flashlight and mirror, checking all the nooks & crannies. Wedged down on the sides of the trunk floor, down between the inner and outer quarter panel skins, was all this...
