That triangular bracket is for the power steering pump, not the alternator . The triangular bracket for the alternator has two holes that are used to attach the bracket to the water pump. The Alternator attaches to the other hole in the bracket.

I think you are confusing the two triangular brackets.

I see why you would say that but nope that's not it. The (now blue) triangle bracket in the pic above of the dry fit mock up was original to the car (at least as it came to me) and was part of the alternator bracketing. Yes, there is a new bracket that is identical to it that came with the PS bracket kit. It must be a universal type bracket that is used for various applications. That would explain the 'extra' hole. Thanks though.
