1973 Dart Sport need to replace rear taillight bezels any tips?

Hello,

I have a re-pop set and looking to replace the rear taillight bezels that are pitted bad and the previous owner had painted them black. I know the inside trunk plastic cover has to come out. Any tips to avoid scratching the paint or how remove them with less pain?

Wear gloves and press on the outside of the bezels while you take the nuts off.
That keeps them flush against the tail panel and then tap on the studs from the inside while holding them with the gloves on to ease them out of their holes.
It should be a simple job, really.
