I could not get the Continental hose to fit over the water pump neck

I tried and tried and gave up

I used the Gates flexible radiator hose and am happy with it

Hope for no leaks

Would have the Continental fit OK if it went on the water pump neck? Where was the Continental hose made?

Made in the Philippines

It might have fit with trimming at the radiator end of the hose

I installed the Gates hose last week and refilled the radiator last night

Saw a coolant spot on some cardboard overnight ......like no more than a dollar coin size drip circle

Appears there's a very very slow drip at the radiator end.......the clamp is tight

Any tips or tricks?

Sometimes there is a little garbage on the radiator tube that prevents 100% seal of the hose. I would drain the radiator and pull the hose and use some fine sandpaper to shine up the radiator tube, then reinstall the hose and try again.

Try this Gates lower hose #20558 along with the "SHORT" oil filter. This is what I use on my 440 Demon. Don't slide it completely to the very top of the water pump neck. Install it about an inch past the little raised ridge on the neck and install and tighten your clamp. It'll just be touching the oil filter a slight bit. If you have a hose spring I'd use one just for insurance.

His water pump housing has the outlet on the passenger side, so nowhere near the oil filter. It is the '73 up housing.

I am going to try a new hose clamp

Instead of a worm gear style, I am going to gamble and try a 3/4" wide t-bolt style clamp and see if the subtle drip will stop with more clamping force
