My daughter is going to need to have her 06' Mustang transported from South Carolina to Philadelphia in August. Looking for open or closed carrier. Thank you.

Maybe she could find someone local to drive the car and then return on Amtrak or Greyhound. That's not that far.

I had to get a local guy (friend) to do my last car haul after jacking around with the on-line pirates!! What they do now is they put your car up for bidding basically. They tell you they can do it for "X" to get you locked in. Then after a week or two no one has agreed to move your car for that price. You have to wait until someone agrees to take your car at the price the original company said they could do it for. After many weeks they ask if you would like to offer more to get some one to make the haul. This will continue until the price gets up so high that more than one shipper will take the job. It was cheaper in the end for me to pay for the U-haul trailer and pay a local guy to drive the 1500 miles and bring the car home to me. If you're in a good (well traveled) location it makes it a little easier.

Stay away from an outfit named "Auto Bound". Supposed to deliver door to door to my daughter outside of Huntsville, only 3 miles off the interstate. They dropped the car in a lot just off the interstate and then called her to come pick it up after it was offloaded!

Steer VERY clear of Bill Avrich and Transport Connection. Don't even ask him for a quote.

The guy is psychotic and crazy aggressive. Very unhinged. I got a quote from him, he called and screamed at me because I didn't pick him. Then he emailed me REPEATEDLY berating me, telling me I was trash, etc.

He's not wrong, but that isn't good business.

His reviews back me up. https://m.yelp.com/biz/transport-connection-boca-raton

As far as I know it doesn't matter which car hauling company you pick??? They all put your info into the same data base that all the individual car haulers see. From what I gather, there are many, many individual guys that haul cars using their own rigs. They all look at the same data base. The data base list every car that needs to be hauled. Each car hauling company (not the individual car hauler) wants to "lock you in" to their company to get a cut of whatever you pay to get your car hauled. They will do everything they can to get you to go with their company because the guy you're talking to on the phone is only a middle man who gets a cut of the total bill (they get paid for every fish they get on the line). He doesn't care about your car or your dead line, he only wants to get his cut of the money. Once he puts you into the data base their job is done and they get paid once somebody agrees to haul your car for the agreed amount. The agreed amount may not be enough to get anyone to haul your car but the guy you talk to on the phone doesn't care because once you get frustrated enough they know that you will eventually increase the amount that you're willing pay to get someone to haul your car. That's why it's sometimes better and easier to get someone local to do it that way you're working with the actual guy that's going to haul your car, NOT A DATA BASE!!!

If someone here on FABO knows something different then please post it, all I can tell you is what I experienced. I kept raising the amount I would pay to get someone (anyone) to haul my car. When it got too high I got a local guy to do it. I got the car hauled faster and cheaper.

Oh, one more thing.........The individual guys with their own rigs always look for the easiest hauls, popular cities along popular interstates/highways, cars that start and run and can move on their own (they hate non-running cars and cars without good wheels/tires), they like cars that don't require special care, cars that are easy to get to, destinations that are NOT rural or "out of the way", jobs that pay the highest rate for the miles hauled. This is why it's hard to get someone to take cars posted by regular guys, we're usually on a budget and can't afford to pay collector cars prices to get your car hauled. Now if you have plenty of money and are willing to pay top dollar to get your car hauled......well in that case, you're going to get plenty of offers to get your car hauled!!!!!! GOOD LUCK and keep your wits about you.

I had Jim from TrulyVintage transport my non running 1966 D/Dart, plus loose parts from San Rafael, CA to Port St Lucie, FL back in 2017. I would not hesitate to go with him again. He advertises over on Moparts.

Search The Hamb for forum member "Ben D". Very nice guy. He delivered the cab of my rat truck half way across the country on the cheap. Hopefully he's still doin it.

Go to a few local car dealers and ask who they use . Its pretty cheap if you are going hub to hub . They want full loads . We transported cars from LA to Boise for around 600 each.

Depends on what you are looking for.

Your timing is bad for me as headed to the beach in August, but I have an enclosed trailer and the strapping required. No CDL but the means with the Right Truck and at times just need to take a vacation. I always like to see some of our great country and maybe make a buck or two doing it. Final Destination in the SE is perfect for me!

Thank you for the response. I just came back from moving her into her college dorm. After seeing the roads, traffic, lunatics and parking fees she has decided not to have her car there. If that changes I will give you a call. Again thank you for the response and offer. Lou
