Wanting to Add Power Brake Booster

My Father has a 1972 Dodge Dart Custom 318v8. It has front and rear drum brakes, which he wants to keep. He just wants to add a power brake booster. I am doing the research for him and I'm kind of learning as I go. What parts are needed besides the booster itself? Does someone make a complete kit including pushrod, etc.? I just want to make sure I order all necessary parts. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Stacy Bouler

he would love power disc brakes.sorry but drum brakes just suck.why is he so insistant on drums?he will need a booster and push rod,master cylinder and maybe distribution valve.
 
Generally speaking the bracket that bolts to the firewall and raises the booster above the valve cover comes with the pushrod
 
A few years ago, there was a full kit on ebay - booster, MC, stand-off brackets w/ lever, pedal rod for $170. It looks like they adapted a common classic Chevy booster. I haven't looked lately. If you can find the stand-off brackets w/ lever and rod, you can mount a later booster to the brackets. In my 1965 Dart, I used a booster from an Intrepid and only required a little rat-tail filing of the holes to fit brackets from a 1974 Dart. The input to the booster is a flat rod, which fit into the lever (might have added a spacer washer, forget). That allows you to use a common 2-bolt aluminum MC without needed a 2 to 4 bolt adapter plate. You see it in my avatar.

Ignore people fussing about changing to front disk brakes. That is a separate issue, and with a booster you will be setup for later disks. You would have to add an adjustable proportioning valve inline with the rear circuit (I did), which costs $30. Adjust so the fronts skid just slightly before the rears in a wet parking lot.
