I finally did it. I pulled the trigger on a Holley Sniper Fuel injection system today. I went to start my 69 340 today, and I had to crank it until gas got to the carb. Right then, I thought it's time for FI. I know what some of you are thinking; "So start your more often." Sometimes life gets in the way. I called Holley, and asked the guy a BUNCH of questions. I got the black EFI unit and the in tank pump and sending unit module (part 12-319) that means I don't need a return line. I have been thinking about this for a LONG time. I'll let you know how it works out. Who else has done this? And are you happy.

I'll be interested to know how the Holley sending unit/pump module works out- I'm sure the pump part of the unit will be fine, but I wonder if Holley addressed the sender issues that seem to be the norm on aftermarket units for Mopars.

I did the ProFlo3 and ProFlo4. Had a couple bugs to work out but happy so far. I think you’ll be happy. Take your time and follow the instructions and make sure the wiring connections are tight and correct.

I've been eye balling one as well iv been thinking about putting one on the 360 for the challenger. My buddy buddy put one on his 355 thats in a 77 firebird. He loves it and I thought it was really cool! You should do a thread when you do the installation.

in the last 2 weeks I bought the Sniper (shiny version) and the same in tank pump/sending unit you did. Still got aways to go before it all gets installed.

I don’t expect to have any issues with the fuel gauge as I will be running a Dakota Digital instrument cluster and whatever the sending unit says I will need calibrate the Dakota gas gauge to get the correct readings

An electric fuel pump would have taken care of your cold start issue.

I have thought about it, maybe if I do another car, I won't put it on my Dart, just not part of the plan. My brother has been running an MSD Atomic system on his 70 Chevelle SS454 for a few years now and he has been really happy with it. As far as I know it's been trouble-free so far, but he did take his time doing the installation and followed the instructions to the letter.

I have a Fitech unit. Did lots of reading and research on both when I bought (in 2017?) Anyway, decided on the Fitech. I have it controlling the timing, went with a tanks in tank and new PTFE fuel line with AN fittings and two fuel filters. So far so good. Still lots to learn, as far as timing curve and tuning ,.but it fores right up, hot or cold.

Take your time and be sure your wiring is up to snuff. You'll need a good solid 12 volts in crank for the system to fire the injectors. Like MSD needs 12v in crank to fire.

The guy I talked to at Holley today said something about letting the unit control the timing if I wanted. I have a complete MSD ignition system including one of their billet non-vacuum advance distributors. So I will research that possibility. He said I would have to do something to my distributor though.

I considered the Sniper, but decided to use my Quick Fuel 750 mechanical secondary since I bought it new in 2009. I'll be using an MSD E-Curve distributor with it. If I'm not happy with it, I'll go the Sniper route. Good luck, I'm subscribed.

I also recently bought one for my '72 Duster 360 after going back and forth on it for almost a year. The car came to me with a Holley 4bbl that has been hard to start cold and flooded easily. Oil reeked of gas when I bought the car. The Sniper system is still sitting in the box while I finish up upgrading the entire steering system, swapping out the factory front drums for discs, and refreshing the front and bottom of the engine. Hopefully I'll get it all back together and running before it's time to put it away for the winter lol. Good luck with yours.

The problem with the aftermarket F.I. is when it won't start what failed. At least with the carb either there is fuel or not. I put in a tanks inc. tank and pump and car sits for 2 weeks and starts right up after running pump with the carb. I got stuck with F.I. and had to send it back to have it repaired. While it was gone put carbs back on and got it running again.

I have the same dist. You have to lock it out and use an adj rotor. It's cool cause once it's setup and synced (Engine timing matches handheld timing) you can command whatever you want and program the curve.

I DEARLY hope (you could just add to this thread) that you will post progress and photos of how and why you set this up.
I plan to. It is on backorder, so it will likely be about a month before I get it. I was a little nervous, because I have read quite a few bad reviews on the Sniper system, but I really can't believe that Holley would knowingly sell a piece of crap. Also, I have talked to a lot of people who love theirs.

That was what the guy at Holley said. Where did you find instructions on how to do that? So you are saying that I can forget about springs and program how fast the advance kicks in through the Sniper?

They work great!

I keep hearing what the guy at Holley said.. well I got great tech support from the Holley tech line and even sent me some free parts to modify my carburetors I could quickly tell I was talking to a 20-something year old kid who drove his Honda to work and is looking at a computer screen and reading what it says... Basically following a formula.. while as helpful as they could be I didn't get that feeling that they were capable of building and tuning a carburetor but more reading the troubleshooting part of the instructions back to you...
I wish we could meet that tech support guy...

Been using the sniper for over 3 years it’s been really great and it runs pretty good with the timing control. Make sure you really get your head around the whole setup which is really important, take your time and keep your coil power wires and distributor wires clear from everything else . Not sure if your running timing control or stand alone fuel only as it’s really critical with wire placement when running timing control and can cause RFI problems . Wires you don’t use unpick them from the plug don’t just roll em up and keep them with the rest of the loom. Take your time and read the manual. If you have any issues there is a Holley Sniper forum page on Book face with a lot of knowledgeable people on board which will help you out or EFI pro systems who are also great for support. Once you have it right you will not go back to carburettors. I thought I had a pic of my tank it’s a tanks inc with the Wal Bro pump and electronic sender unit .That’s My 2c.

Umm, what is Book face? Were you jokingly referring to Facebook? I plan to research and go slowly, but it will have to be without Facebook.
