Mopar Posi rear axle

It didnt bother me until I knew the difference. Now it just lets you know a little information about the person you are talking to. Not gonna sway me too far towards a negative view of them, but that information could be ..........revealing. They could be new to the mopar world. Or just not paying F#$%ing attention! Ha Ha!

:rofl: Posi is short for "Positive traction" basically what every clutch or lock up differential does. Ya but we don't want to sound like a Chevy boy! LOL

I had a friend telling about a car that had Posi in First AND Second.
Posi irks me a little, but there are Mopar owners that buy them because they like them, not so much to wrench. They don't bother me as much as the the ones whose uncle had a Charger with a 440 Hemi Iron Duke with a Posi and a rock crusher 4 speed etc, etc. Basically the biggest baddest coolest sounding buzzwords all rolled into the same car

If I hear a self-proclaimed Mopar "expert" utter the word "posi", I get up and go get another beer. You just know it's gonna be a looong night.
Sure grip, Posi, TracLock, Twin Grip, whatever. If I don't know what a particular manufacturer called it, I just say "limited slip".

Kinda yeah. When I'm lookin for parts or talkin to someone that doesn't know the difference, I just say "limited slip".

I don't like Mopar guys using the term "POSI" period, but it's just a term most people use because it's easy to say & most car guys know what your talking about. It's STILL a GM term though.

Well, I guess if you've put a GM differential under your Mopar...

But, why would you do that?

Powr-Lok, & Sure Grip

LSD is something I did in high school

Strictly speaking, a chevy term. Buick, olds, and pontiac all had special, and different, names for their limited slip diffs.

...term is "Limited slip differential" Mopar is "Sure grip", Chevy is "Positraction", Ford is "Trac Lok" in recent years anywaze...

i was looking for wheels for the S10 the other day. Sometimes its tough to know what you have.

Discouraging statement about our educational system. How come nobody told him that when you get done with the fingers on one hand, its okay to continue to count with the other one!
