Mopar Posi rear axle

-
I purchased an Eaton true track posi for an 8 3/4 … said it on the box it came in.

Man... can't we move on from this discussion? posi is a generic term based on common use - like "hand me a kleenex". I use sure-grip but I can't see the point in making a big deal about somebody saying posi...

A polite correction for a misused term is ok. Just like the name 440 Six Pack was reserved for Dodge models while the Plymouths received the 6-Barrel tag.

Man, if that was my part, I'd carry the box in the trunk, tell everybody i have a posi, and just wait! for some mopar maniac call you out for having a posi! Sounds like fun.
I did have the box in the in the shop for a while and was doing exactly that to the mopar types that this kind of thing upsets....

You know I have been in the Mopar world for 50+ years
I'll never understand why people pucker their *** when they here POSI.
Really is it that important ? Ok rant over..

Oh yeah, a Eaton TRUE TRACK is ok to say.
I guess so as I have one.

I try not to get my undies in a bunch about it, but it's similar to hearing "Boss 440 Hemi"- ya just gotta walk away sometimes...

...term is "Limited slip differential" Mopar is "Sure grip", Chevy is "Positraction", Ford is "Trac Lok" in recent years anywaze...
They are all brand names for the limited slip type differentials.
Pontiac called theirs Saf-T-Track.
Oldsmobile called theirs Twin Grip.
Even later my own 2007 Dodge Ram has a 3.55 "Anti-Spin" differential.

I love these memes though...

If someone innocently uses the term "posi," we all know what they mean and that's all that matters.

Uhh, no.
You're either right or you are not.
Where are your standards? People can and do develop bad habits by seeing and hearing others doing it wrong.
I've known some ignorant adults that butcher this language and they are doing society no favors.
Bisketti is not an acceptable word to describe Spaghetti.
Hang-a-ber isn't the same as a "hamburger" either.
Pacifically is not a replacement for "Specifically", pobly is not "Probably", a VALANCE is not pronounced VAY-LENCE, Milodon is not pronounced Mile-O-Don, Lunati IS pronounced Loo-Knot-EE.
Carry on, fuckers......

I believe that you are the reincarnation of the steel ruler wielding grammer nazi nun that I had in 5th grade !!!

It's like one of those stupid scripted car shows where they all say stupid **** like Holley "double pump" and "cams" when referring to a V8 with one camshaft. I like to kindly and respectfully correct my Mopar brethren so they won't sound like total idiots. It's called learning. I do it on a daily basis.

I'm old enough to remember there wasn't a "small block" or " big block".... Just a 383 or 327 or 322 or 287. Guys knew what you were talking about.

I hate it when I hear these "cool" car nick names..."yea I'm takin' the Yota out this weekend"... Drove the "Burb" to work today or "I saw the baddest Cammy yesterday.

You know....I've never, not once, heard a chevy guy say his car had a "sure grip" rear axle.

Eldebrock drives me nuts!

I see that and while YES, it does annoy me, I chalk it up to a typo, some small error, etc.
A guy on another forum posted about an engine he is having someone build. He described it as a "full roller motor".
He didn't know what that meant. He just repeated what he heard.
I am glad to see enthused people post about their projects. It is a bit irritating though when newbies throw around terminology when they don't know the ropes yet.
Full roller motor? Cam bearings too? What about rod and main bearings?
I have roller tipped rocker arms. Is mine a half roller motor?

I've been in the presence of geniuses that spit out "4 speed Posi" as if the transmission itself also contains a differential like a transaxle does.
Others have said "It isn't rusty, it just has surface rust and a few areas you can see through".
How about the braniacs that say that headers are only for a race engine and that their exhaust manifolds flow just as well on the street.
Holey craburetors, Elderbock intakes, Headman Headers, I've seen them all.
A sign at a swap meet next to a high performance Ford truck stated "Ford Liteny" right next to the emblem that read Lightning.

I was gonna comment but it's pretty much all been said;
What bothers me is when a guy asks a million questions about his 318 , and five minutes later it turns out it's a stroker, and the only thing 318 about it is the bore and even that ain't 3.91 anymore............. so if you have a 390 just call it what it is; just about anybody you will ever ask a Mopar question, will know what a stinking 390Mopar is.

So somebody stuck a FORD into their MOPAR and people are complaining about POSI's.

Frankly my dear I don't give a damn, posi ,tri power who give's a poop.
I gotta 6 pack, you do ! toss me one. lol
