hello,
in the process of starting body work on a 72' Demon 340.
Have a 1973 duster parts car that still has most of the body in tact.
will the bumpers be the same? fenders and trunk, and doors appear to be the same.
thanks,

Doors? I believe?

Entire front clip will swap, but then you will have a "73 look alike" beak nose, etc Aren't the bumpers different? Energy absorbing in 73?

70 to 72 doors are metal tops, 73+ have the plastic trim. The inner door handle assembly is completely different. So is say negatory on the doors

Oil can energy absorbers started in 74 although not all 74s have them

front bumper is salvageable on the Demon. mainly needing the rear bumper.
The rear bumper should work from a 73 to a 72. 73 was the last year for that style of rear bumper

Only the rear bumper, the front bumper is going to be completely different

Good question(s).
Okay.
Here's the scoop on the poop.
The differences between the '72 Demon and the '73 Dusters (body wise) are as follows:

The rear bumpers and brackets are the same. (The bumperettes are not)
The trunk lid is the same.
The rear tail light panel with tail lights are totally different.
The rear quarter panels, wheel houses, extensions, trunk floor, and frame rails are the same.
The floor pans and rocker panels are the same.
The inner fenders, firewall, cowl, frame, and radiator support are the same.
The doors, only the outer skin is the same.
The fenders, hood, front bumper with brackets, grille and headlight doors, filler panel, hood latch and support, and hood hinges are totally different.
I may add that the Demon has a lower valence under the bumper and the Duster does not.
Basically, the whole unboltable parts on the front end are '72 Dart or Demon.

A Dodge Demon of the same year of the Duster is basically a Duster base body with a different tail panel and tail lights, and with a Dart front clip with Dodge badging instead of Duster (emblems and stripe packages).
The Demon was also available with a dual snorkle hood scoop while the Duster was not.

The Dodge Demon was only available for 2 years, '71 and '72.
From '73 to '76 the name was changed to ''Dart Sport'' but the same rules applied as to body changes etc.

On another note, the '73 Duster is a good parts car for the '72 Demon if you keep these differences in mind.
There are a lot more interior and drive train wise between the years, but these are the basics.
Also, the jack slots in the bumpers were added to the very late build '71 to '76 on all A-Bodies. (the last few months or so)
The same goes for the ''ribbed'' trunk lid on Dusters/Demons as opposed to the flat or smooth ones that were on '70 to '71 Dusters and '71 Demons.

To sum this all up, you could make a Duster into a Demon (or visa versa) if you had all of the right parts and nobody could tell other than looking at the build sheet, serial number, and the fender tag of the car.........
