The "Throw Away 318"

Kind of in the same boat. 360 is hurt. Have the 318 that is numbers matching to the car. Picked up a timing cover, water pump, and motor mounts at Mopars in the park (71+ so the radiator will work)
Have to finish putting my buddies flathead back together so I can free up the engine stand.
Hasn’t ran since 2002 only time will tell.

At the end of the day you will likely drive a car with a running 318 more than you will drive a car with a blown up 340 or 360. That was the decision I had to make and I'm glad I did it! I like wrenching in the winter and cruising/racing in the summer!
