and now with a forged crank, .090 over and 360 pistons and a 4 speed..... 10.80's @ 127 mph. All throttle. This is why anyone that builds a 318 should be admitted and surrounded by men in white coats.

I havent seen issue with the 318, more so UTG claims of running 10s(doing it cheap) with basically a stock motor, It stands to reason if you put 340 type mods on one it would make power.

At .090 over, that’s a 332. Works for me! If you can go that far to help unshroud the valves, we’ll hell yea!

Can only be done with the old ones...thick web blocks. 67,68...318-3...they are harder to find than a 340

Friend, no 340 goes 10's in a car without mods..... or 11's.... or 12's... in fact, without some sort of mod... most likely not even a 13. :( And it took you just post 6 to bring up... never mind.

Like I said, it ain’t that hard to make power with a 318 and I caught holy hell about it. It’s not much different that doing it with a 340 or a 360.

This. Never understood why its ok to build a hot 289, 302, 327, 5.0 or 5.3 but not a 318. It may come from a time when 340's were plentiful and cheap so why would you? Hell I remember when 360's, 400's and the like were overlooked since they were smog motors incapable of performance.

All I hafta say about that. If we arebeing truly honest here,318s are all that's left. There was a fella on here giving one away. I almost got in mytruck and drove 4 hours for it...but I don't need it,and why be greedy? I like that folks still give them away they are drying up...

Whats a 273 on a snail worth HP wise? Heads be damned as its forced induction now. If I can ever get off my *** and into the garage without F'n with an old tape deck, I could probably have one together inside a month.... would be injected. Not sure my intake would stay together though.....may have to weld a few trusses across the top. 150 square inches at 12 psi could lift 1800 lbs....

I have seen that video, and a few others about that car, but it's kinda confusing, he always says it's a "318" but in the comments people ask if it is stroked and he never address that. I do believe it had a 4" crank in it, but not positive

Looking through his other videos, it does appear to be a 400+ cube stroker. He says "318" block in one of the comments about its size, and he also says it has icon flat tops for a 360, so definitely NOT 3.31 stroke, its 11 1/2 to 1 compression, so I'd guess 4" crank... .600 lift solid roller also.

I think there seems to be different stages of it. In the first video I posted, he states "stock bottom end". Then a few months after that, he talks like the engine has been redone with a new eagle forged crank, not mentioning if it's 3.31 stroke or 4"

That little enginemasters 318 i had ran 11.60’s at 3400 pounds shifting it at 6200 with a dinky 231-238 camshaft.
It was 30 over..so 323 cubes

Yeah, seems to be various setups...but definitely cool, and fast

Probably going to see the same arguments on Chebby & Ferd forums. Why run a 327 when you can run a 350. Why run a 302 when you can run a 351........
