not at all , chargers had emblems on the fenders that said charger and we v-8 cars with crager wheels. i have also never seen one as a convertible. The color is the same color as every one i have ever seen - that same shade of yellow. also the chargers were 1965 not 66

They did call the 273 4 bbl HP engine a “Charger 273” but that came in 1965-1967 Dart models and didn’t necessarily make it a “Dart Charger” ....and none had a Slanty 6

Thanks for the feedback . This guy thiught it was a Charger mode... there is a hardtop in the same color about 700 ft from the Chevron I found this one . Will have to take a closer look .

That's the second yellow '66 GT convertible I have seen from the Bay Area. The other was a 273-four barrel, four speed that I saw on January 27, 1983 (the day after we bought the GTS convertible).

I believe that the 225 air cleaner will say Charger 225 which could lead to the confusion.

It does say 225 Charger ...but I also think he was fed some mis information . Nice guy . He planz on keeping it stock .

For what it's worth, I asked my (Early A) old timer buddy about the Dart Charger, this was what he said:
1965 was the only year the Dart Charger was produced, and they only made a handful of them. They were all made out west, not exactly sure which plant.
They came with a Charger 273, not unlike the Hypo 273 in power.
They also had badging, one on the glove compartment and one on each front fender that said "Charger".

I see the front end is a 66 and the tail lights are 65. The rear bumper is also a 66. My guess is the tail light's were changed.

From what little I know about the Charger Package it was a regional zone office marketing pkg available to dealers in that zone or region . They still do that today but mostly for trucks... Northwest Pkg etc....

Yes the rear tail lights were mismatched .

I will take a picture of the hardtop sitting in the storage unit today as I am about to ride past it on my murdercycle. Also a pale yellow car.

Pic from a 65 Dart dealer brochure I picked up at Hill-Kelly Dodge in Pensacola, Florida back in 65, showing two yellow 65 Darts, one a hardtop, other a convertible, with 273 4-barrel motors and optional Cragar mags. Don't believe they were Dart Chargers, though. Mbaird above (#13) says the Dart Charger was a regional package. That seems correct to me.

Hill-Kelly didn't actually have one of these Darts on the lot, but they did have a 65 Coronet 500 2dr hardtop, same color yellow, black interior, with a 426 street wedge and blackwall tires with Cragar mags. Sweet car, but I was too young to drive, let alone buy a new car.

About the same time, they had an aluminum front end 64 Dodge. After the 64 racing season was over, they pulled the race motor (can't remember if it was a max wedge or hemi), slapped in a 383, and put it on their used car lot. But I digress. . . .

Actually I only have one convertible. Next will be a clone of a Dart Go Go package car!

Kinda like this one? This was owned by an elderly couple (it was HER car) since the mid-80s until they both passed in the last couple of years. Not exactly sure where it is, but their son may have it.

I'm sure I've met the son, but it's been a long time. We met Frank and Lou(ise) around 1986 when they were building that car for her. I was selling out all of my 273 stuff, and I had a lot.
