I ponied up and bought one (a Braille) and thought i'd share what I learned and experienced.

They weigh vitually nothing. Mine weighs 9lbs, feels like less. They are 100% american made, in florida (the oasis of freedom) and come with a 3 year gurentee and are supposed to last 12-13 years. They can mounted upside down, etc. The do not dicharge when disconnected. They are only rated in cranking amps, mine's 1,450ca. They work with a stock/standard charging system.

So far this thing is an animal and but about 50lbs out of the car.

That almost sounds too good to be true. How much did it set you back? How big is the footprint? Do you have any installed photos?

My brother has been using them in the forumla race cars that he preps and runs for clients. Most of the races are sprints of 20-30 minutes and thay hold up for the sessions without running an alternator... not tried them in a street car...

same size as a normal battery. Like an 850CCA battery. You can buy a mini but tney cost more.

That's a chunk for a battree fo sho but if you're tryin to go fast in a race car, probably worth it.
