The same idea works on a 318 or any other engine. Like Bewy said, the bore size is a biggest limiter. Getting away from the small bore as much as possible is a good idea when building a 318. If you’d lucky enough to have a thick wall and have the ability to go more than a normal .030 over bore, I’d do it. Heck, if you can get a 4.00, safely, I’d go there.

If you’d limited to the stock bore or just .030 over, you’ll still be fine. The old adage of easy air in and easy air out will help make that power.
