For the racers around Maryland it looks like 75-80 Dragway will be reopening. From post I've seen on facebook the track has been sold as of June 2021. The new owners are leasing it out to someone who is working to clean up the track and are hoping to have it open mid July 2021. Sounds like they are going to be doing no prep/grudge racing to start and possible index racing. No bracket racing at this point. I'm assuming maybe because they need a timing systems as the track has sat dormant for many years.

At least someone bought it that has an interest in racing, instead of turning it into another housing addition. I wish I was closer to Division 1/2, I really enjoyed racing up there with my former partner before he passed away.

Hope they get the support and everything works out for them. My Dad raced there in the early 60's. He took me there a lot in the 80's and 90's. The first place I raced at. Used to love standing on the fence behind the burnout box. It would be great to show this place to my daughter and make some passes there.

This would be the 3rd reopening since they originally closed in 2005. Bill Wilcom would have to be involved to get the necessary permits. Highly unlikely

Wilcom sold the property as of the beginning of the month. That’s straight from the family. They are not involved in the reopening of the track. The track has been leased for 2 years. The lease holders are cleaning the place up now and plan to be racing by the end of July. Looks like No Prep 1/8 and later some time index racing.

Hurricane Racing Tours - the ones who leases the dragway posted this yesterday on their Facebook page.:

As of today Hurricane Racing Tours will be pulling out from 75&80 Dragway thank you to the ones that have supported us and for the ones that have all the answers and the perfect way to get this track open it's open for you to do so now good luck. I also want to say thanks all the negative people and this is what happens we all should have came as one and pray that this place was able to open

Seems as though Stanley (the owner of the land) won't/hasn't applied for the necessary permits and The Hicks (Operators of Hurricane Racing Tours) are caught in the middle.

Most residents in that area are going to be very much against reopening the track.

Sad but it looks like that dream is over. Terris has done a great job with getting Capitol Raceway open again.

It’s easy to sit back and armchair quarterback the decisions made so far....... but I wouldn’t have spent any time or money on anything until after all the necessary bureaucratic “paperwork” had already been taken care of.
