I replaced bushings on my front end some months ago and hard a hard time getting the drivers side TB to seat. The LCA looks like it was replaced at one time (painted black where the passenger side looks stock). Passenger side bar went in just fine. I knew I was going to replace the OE bars with PST bars, which I did recently. After replacing the bushings, I had the car aligned. The shop said the driver side was tweaked a little and the car was not square. He aligned it so it drove straight. When I recently replaced the OE bars with PST, the driver bar also would not fully seat (about 1/2" sticking out of the LCA socket). I did not want to pound on it too much either, so took the car to a frame shop to have them check for the car being straight. They said the measurements were fine, but could not find a reason why the driver side bar would not fully seat.
Any ideas?

Is the pivot and bushing properly seated in the LCA????

Compare the left side to the right and see if there is any difference....

How are you trying to install the torsion bars? what are your steps you use to install a torsion bar.

Many years ago in my youth i used to have a hell of a time getting torsion bars to go in the lower control arm. Found out I needed to loosen the lower control arm castle nut to get the torsion bar in .

is the torsion bar lined up with the cup, for lack of better word, on the lca and going in , or is the torsion bar not aligning with the cup.

I loosen the LCA strut nut then use a bottle jack under the LCA to lift it just a little to get the hex socket opening to line up with the hex on the bar. Once they line up, I tap the bar into the socket until it seats. I used the TB removal tool on the bar to try to get it fully seated, but would not go any further. Car is still at the frame shop so cannot compare the other side to see if the pivot and bushing are fully seated. After seating the bars & setting an initial height, I lowered the car and tightened the LCA strut nuts.

When I got new bars from FirmFeel. The bar on the passenger side would not slide in easy like the drivers side. What I noticed was the powder coating was kind of think on the hex’s and would bind. So took a sanding wheel and sanded down the powder coat on the hex and they then slid in the sockets like butter...

The bars from PST are not coated on the ends, but glad that worked out for you!
